get over it. i'm white. bros know no color, but if you listened to Snoop and Dre 25 years (!) ago, you were probably as likely to be white as you were anything else.

Some really nice thinly-veiled racism on display here. Congrats JCList - you never disappoint! I too am nervous about the crowd he'll attract: an overabundance of Hoboken bros in their 30s (think 'Old School,' which made fun of white people liking Snoop 15 years ago).

Speaking of racism. Why is ok to refer to this something white men as"bros"? Huh?

It's not clear what the city's total costs for the festival will be. The City Council has approved giving the Exchange Place Alliance $39,900 to rent carnival rides and New York-based Grucci $135,000 for fireworks.

#The Exchange Place Alliance has a roughly $3 million budget.

Oh dear clear backpacks, guess that will stop'em.

Who is paying for Mr. Dogg to perform and how much?

LOL and what is your source to make that statement... I heard on the radio early this morning it was local street gang related? the #22 wounded was not clear, but the death toll was.

It kind of was in articles like those in the Philly Inquirer

“It gets portrayed as gang members shooting gang members. Drug dealers shooting drug dealers. Black-on-black crime. That’s how it’s going to be and it’s going to die down in two or three days,” he said. “This is our Parkland. This is our Columbine. [Black communities] don’t have mass shootings in schools. They have them at clubs and gatherings.”

The video you posted is mislabeled, the real name of the track is "Deep Cover" and "187 on an undercover cop" is part of the hook.

It's for the soundtrack of the Laurence Fishburne movie by the same name Deep Cover. It's about a cop that gets a hit put on him after going deep undercover. It was made to go with the storyline of the movie.

The article has nothing to do with Snoop but I also have a feeling you didn't read the article.

"This focus on hip-hop is outdated and amounts to a form of musical and racial profiling of black fans and artists, Mr. Bratton’s opponents say. Rap is now a huge and dominant professional industry, they say, pointing to megastars like Drake and Kendrick Lamar. And despite the headlines, they add, violent crime at rap concerts is rare."

May be my age and definite taste in music... but it seems like a big step down going from Kool and The Gang to Snoop?

...does Snoop run with the Crips or the Bloods?

As a teenager, Snoop frequently ran into trouble with the law. He was a member of the Rollin' 20 Crips gang in the Eastside area of Long Beach, although he stated in 1993 that he never joined a gang. Shortly after graduating from high school, he was arrested for possession of cocaine, and for the next three years was frequently in and out of prison (including Wayside Jail).

Better have a massive police presence, will be hard to hear gunshots over the fireworks.

Now I forget... does Snoop run with the Crips or the Bloods? Sounds like it will be a very diverse and inclusive show to highlight the patriotic theme of the day.

On July 3rd, Doog is scheduled to make a personal appearance on Newark Ave to smoke the red hemp ribbon that will open the first ganja shop in Jersey City.

Snoop Dogg to headline Jersey City Fourth of July celebration
Jun 15, 2018

JERSEY CITY – The Fourth of July celebrations being held in the Exchange Place area of Jersey City will feature rapper Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg is also a singer, songwriter, record producer, television personality, and actor, who has sold more 23 million albums in the United States and 35 million albums worldwide.

He will headline Jersey City’s fifth annual July 4th festival on the Hudson Waterfront to celebrate Independence Day. The carnival-style spectacle will take place at the Hudson River Waterfront and the adjoining area surrounding Harborside, both of which have light rail stops for easy commutes from nearby towns.

The all-day music, food, technology and entertainment experience boasts views of the New York City skyline, and will become the scene of the state’s largest fireworks show.

The celebration will begin at noon with a full-scale carnival, continuous entertainment, several beer gardens, and an elite conglomerate of food trucks. The show will culminate with the world-renowned fireworks company Grucci lighting up the skyline from multiple barges on the Hudson River.
