Imagine living on 8th Street and all the people that walk by your home actually stop and gather outside your front door. They then start drinking, smoking and gabbing it up. Of course the capacity is ONLY 800.

My friend lives over in that sh1t show, and all the units are empty (he's not a renter). maybe the garden brings some new tenants!?!?!

as for top 10 beers, there's no point, since i imagine they'll be serving all german beers anyway.

I like Spaten Oktoberfest and Goose Island Kolsch for German beers.

Nope! We were told the Zepplin was going to be an upscale restaurant. My neighbor was told it was going to be professional offices (i.e. GP medical office).

The fact that there is a beer garden doesn't bother me, but rather, the fact that we were lied to about the grilling/common lawn does. To top it all off, the cigarette smoke issue from a lot (possibly) of people wafting through the AC vents makes it even worse. My GF detests cigarette smoke, and I don't want to have her living somewhere where this can/will be an issue.

On the other hand, almost every night I am out walking the dog, people meander back here to check to see if it's open. There have been some nice people and some shady looking characters.

Saturday night I ended up talking to a really nice couple that asked when the place was going to open, but 2 minutes later a white Acura MDX pulls up with what appears to have been the Gotti girls inside.

The residents of LHN get a whopping 10% off their bill! That just makes me want to run out and go to the Golden Cicada (which is a hell of a good time most nights we go there).

Unfortunately, we are living above this. We were told that this outdoor seating area was going to be a common yard with a few grills. We are trying to get out of the lease now and will take the management company to court if need be, and will be seeking full security return and moving costs.

I wouldn't be surprised if debris gets tossed out the windows by some pissed off residents.

At least you are renting and you don't own it - you'd think in the current environment you might be able to squeeze something out of the management company.

Separately, how full is your building? I live in Gull's Cove and can't tell if there is much activity over there.

There's alot of exaggerating going on, almost all bars have drunks that spill into the street. Especially up the block, but then again, it's a cop bar. Before you moved to your converted overpriced former crackhouses you knew their were bars in the area. And probably got a discount because of it. A once in a while drunk is just a caveat of living next to a bar.

Is the beer garden really that much less noisy than the light rail curve 50 feet away?

Anyone know what the real holdup is? I can't help wondering if the hoops they have to jump through for a liquor license and pass inspections are very high and very small...

We made the mistake of just going to their website today and, thrilled with the news that they had opened last Thursday, we wandered off to quench our thirsts. After wandering around in search of cool refreshing beverages we finally found the biergarten!

i posted the progress of the beer garden on my site

http://jcconstruction.blogspot.com/2009/05/beer.html

i'd say at least another month of work before this place is open for business.

Apparently their web guy didn't get the memo:

Odd way to start (theoretically) a business ...

Is this place open yet or what?

Keep getting email alerts it from the liq store on Jersey, but there is no indication on the site that they are actually open for business.

I'm getting ready by learning all the lyrics to THE STUDENT PRINCE.

"Drink, drink, drink,
To eyes that are bright as the stars when they're shining on me."

Takes me back to old Heidleburg.

an "authentic" german bier garden wouldn't be authentic without germans or germany.

I guess they figure that at peak times half of the people will be outside puking in the neighbors' shrubbery.

It's located in Liberty Harbor in the Zenith Building - the street it's on runs parallel to Grand.

I actually live in Liberty Harbor and I've been talking to the doorman regarding this beer garden. Apparently they are having a karaoke area in there as well??? I am anxious for it to open - not sure what to expect at this point?!

I walked by their location yesterday, it does look really nice, but I don't see anyway they could seat the 800 they're claiming. Seemed like even with indoor and outdoor combined it'd be closer to like 300-400.

The other thing that worries me, with 70 beers on tap it seems that it's going to be pretty hard for them to keep all those beers fresh other than the very popular ones.

"that being said, i can not wait for zeppelin to open"

Why bother going? Based on your superficial standards of what constitutes a "real" beer garden, its a sure bet you'll be disappointed.

since when does the number of beers on tap dictate whether something is or is not a real beer garden? Many of the "real" beer gardens in Prague have just one or two beers on tap. I don't think Bohemian Beer Hall even has 20 beers on tap.

Valid point.. but half the ones at this "garden" are not that great, or that exotic.

Of the 16 beers they have on tap, 10 of them are what i would consider a mid level Macro brew:
Sam Adams Lager
Sam Adams Seasonal: Cherry Wheat
Hoegaarden Original White Ale
CarlsbergStella Artois
Pilsner Urquell
Blue Moon: Honeymoon Summer AleStone Levitation Ale
Stone Pale Ale Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

If i am going to be traveling to queens i would expect a bit more....

that being said, i can not wait for zeppelin to open
