Exactly. If you are in DTJC, the TJs on 23rd is easy and quick to reach. From Grove, it is a 20 to 25 minute trip. Even frozen items make it back in good state. Even if the TJs in Hoboken becomes a reality, I don't think I will be heading there: just getting through the traffic there, plus the JC traffic, is likely to be as much or more time than going to NYC.

I have said it many times before: if you have a car, you are much better off going out to Vauxhall / Millburn and you can hit up WF and TJs (within a mile of each other) and you have ample parking at both places, and the kicker is that the trip is only 20 minutes.

Yeah, but how ever will you navigate your car around the confusion and UTTER CHAOS created by closing off one section of one street that you wouldn't use to get there anyway?

For dissapointed nondriving JC residents, supposedly a HBLR stop is in the works up there.

I mean, there's also a Trader Joe's like 500 feet from the 23rd Street PATH stop. Sure, it's crowded-ish, but not as bad as the one on 14th.

I heard there were several bids to take over Pathmark at Old Colony as a supermarket -- not just real estate. Hmmmmm.

Just checked their site and nothing about Hoboken, and they have quite a few announcements about stores to come... Interesting, that this is taken as gospel.

Trader Joe?s Hoboken

Trader Joe?s Hoboken

Update: Two and a half years ago we mentioned that Trader Joe?s had apparently signed a lease over at the Willow14 spot uptown. Well, that has indeed been true.

They?re currently still ?signed on? as a tenant of that building currently under construction (after a lengthy site remediation process). Who knows if they?ll remained signed on if the project hits any snags. They?re currently doing ?traffic studies? and other studies to see how much you can cram into 1.3 square miles of land before it sinks into the Hudson.

But the wish for an awesome supermarket has been granted. Just don?t go hungry waiting!
