No condo or rental will ever be as profitable as that bjs. Have you ever shopped their on the weekends? It makes Black Friday at Best buy look like a deserted town....

Starting at page 18 - Warren and Provost Street will split Shoprite and BJs into pieces. City Council passed it with nine ayes.

all of them?

Thanks for all the previous posters. Appreciate your time! I dont know if investment in A condos east side, which seemed to be the safest of all the direction, is really a good idea with these projects coming up.

Any idea whether these new high rises will be rentals or condos?

Apart from Marbella 2 on north, 110&111 2nd street in west, are there any proposed projects near A condos? Especially, anything in the triangular patch between greene and washington, or the parking lot opposite Harborside Light rail ?

I heard that an office building on the pier might come up but it will not go above 7-9 floors high. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Marbella II is 110 Second Street, 20-30 stories?

110 First Street is the 30-something tower going up to west of A Condos.

To the south, 111 First Street seems like it will never get started - but it's approved to be over 50 stories.

Triangle to east of A Condos is where Port Authority is supposed to move transformers, but they will be inside some sort of building - and this building could be as tall as six stories.

The construction on waterfront just south of Newport could be any height, it all depends on who wants to move in... nothing will be decided unless there is a committed commercial tenant.

The biggie surprise for this year is the Mack-Cali/Ironside "pile of books" going up at 200 Greene Street, east of Powerhouse and Trump Plaza. Start date this year - moving in date: two years from now with 1276 units. I've read 66 stories. Bay Street will be extended to Hudson Street.
Here's what it's supposed to look like: http://resources.mack-cali.com/pdf/ne ... ncrete.pdf?z=2012-06-11-1

More parking garages with towers on top!

AND the Harsimus Cove Development Zone north of Second Street between Waterfront and Marin Blvd... new layout of streets extending to Sixth St. and maximum heights of 60 stories of the new buildings that could be built there. No timeline I'm aware of when that will be started - but they will eventually replace Shoprite/BJs with high rises (stores located in ground floor space).

I believe the transformers currently in front of the Powerhouse are being moved to the triangle between Washington and Greene as part of the Powerhouse restoration project.
