FAB. Thought you you were smarter. My bad. Lying or wrong? Hanging or benefit off the doubt?

If the media report that witnesses clearly state that the officer shot this young adult in the back and the autopsy proved otherwise, one has to ask why did these 'witnesses' come forward and point blank lie - what was their motivation? Should they be charged for making a false statement and were their statements an Affidavit ... I'm no expert, but if I make a written statement that was false, I'd expect to get in trouble legally.

Even on this thread, arguments are being based on half trues, speculation and personal opinion - Let the Courts and investigators sort it out and then start butting heads

Also, see if you can admit this to yourself, underneath all those mental gymnastics you perform. Every single Ferguson looter belongs in jail.

I bet you can't do it. I think you'd have some cockamamie story about "institutional racism" or "oppression" or "social justice" that prevents you from admitting the blindingly obvious. Just as how you call a clear video a "narrative."

Or why not stick close to home? I am much more concerned about agents of the state, who are fully empowered to use lethal force when ever they feel it justified (though in many cases it's not), than a one-off group of hoodlums.

The Atlantic: The Perils of Standing While Hispanic in the Bronx

They both are problems, but the national media only reports on one.

It wasn't just a "one off group" attack either. First, it was over 100 teens. More importantly, it is part of a national trend that has not been receiving any real national media attention.

Here are more examples, closer to home as you asked. And yes, the fact is that these mobs are all of the same race.

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/l ... enter-City-202189591.html

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/inde ... sh_mob_of_high_schoo.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/us/25mobs.html?_r=0

Again, I agree that both of the things you mentioned are real problems, but only one gets all the national media attention, giving the average person a very distorted view of reality.

A problem. Definitely. "Institutionalized"? NO. We must hold our government and specifically the police to a higher standard, since they enjoy a privileged position of power in our democracy.

That doesn't mean "lynch the white cop" by any means. It simply means we need the mechanisms in place to continually hold our public servants accountable in a fair and transparent manner. Otherwise we could end up water-boarding suspected robbers in Gitmo. And I fear we're not too far away from letting that happen.

Your posts disturb me greatly because you fail to see this, and seem happy deflect reasonable questions.

You're going off the deep end again. In no reasonable world will we end up "water-boarding suspected robbers in Gitmo."

And your fears are unfounded, because I think we will start to see the spread of body cameras on police. Combine that with a way of keeping the video out of their hands, and that will go a long way towards curbing these abuses. It does need to happen and it will.

You on the other hand have failed to say a single word in condemnation for the fact that Mike Brown robbed and assaulted the clerk. Nor for the looting. Nor for the witch hunt rush to hang the cop. Instead just rationalizations, ridiculous excuses, and defenses for criminal behavior. I hold both sides accountable, while you wish to give passes to bad behavior solely on the basis of skin color.

Keep wanking off to your own narrative. The feds and grand jury are looking into the real facts. I'm more than happy with that, and the fact that you, DA, Monroe, et al, are simply wanking off to your own narrative. Keep wanking you tossers :)

Just some teens letting off steam. Been around forever. Used to be called "wilding".

Can normal people (or cops) please be allowed to "let off steam" by shooting them? Please?

There are stupid people everywhere and the media are well aware how a stupid person can help promote the frenzy in society over an incident.

Have we had a professor of sociology or similar discuss the issue or be quoted in the media? It would immediately pour cold water on the issue and this tragic incident would just be another case heard in Court.

We have to admit, there has been a lot of speculation and questionable, biased 'witnesses' about the whole incident ... even the autopsy showed that 'witnesses' have been lying with shots to the back !

Don't get heated or upset and let the investigation shine the true light on what happened.

FAB, you have a good point about the media, but this interview quote is from that article:

Quote:
?I?m so used to stuff like that happening, it doesn?t faze me now,? said Jamison, who said he owns rental properties in the area and has seen many shooting victims. ?I see it all the time.?

I'm sure this paints a far more accurate picture of daily life in the community than sensationalist media headlines. I'm also sure the shooting victims he refers to were not caused by police. That's the real problem no one is discussing.

The media are experts at marketing a news story; its sells papers, increases visits to their websites thus increases their revenue in advertising.

The media will speculate, draw on conclusions, deliberately provoke the reader and are experts at sensationalism. The media will use every trick in the book; race, religion, politics and even common morals and values to stir up an issue.

This tread is a classic example of generating hysteria and hostility via provocation reporting - Don't get suck'd in by it!

Hmm, I wonder who was committing the shootings? The article only refers to "shooters."

The media wouldn't shut up about the fact that Officer Wilson was white. What gives with the silence?

And in one 48 hour period this weekend Newark lost 18 year old Tyquil Whitehead, 33 year old Napoleon Williams, and another so far unidentified man.

No Newark cops involved.

Where are the marches? Where is Al Sharpton? Eric Holder? Why aren't people here shouting at Ras Baraka? A few miles from JC, yet no fauxrage from the usual posters here.

Possibly it's *a* cause. You can't be so presumptuous and arrogant as to assume it's the *root* cause.

As the first post & article demonstrates, the initial reaction of many (not all) black people in Ferguson was to loot many of their local businesses. With smiles on their faces as they were taking their free things. Maybe troublemakers eventually came in from outside, but not at the very beginning.

White people had literally nothing to do with this abhorrent initial reaction. Which also shows why many businesses do not locate in ghettos, high crime.

So there are clearly other factors at work besides "institutional racism."

You nailed it.

Yes, it's all white people's fault. The left's go-to bogeyman for all of the world's problems. I'm sure that's it.

The win is awareness of what these communities are going through. The win is the resistance that we have seen in the streets.

There was a mention in the NY Times profile that Brown called his parents claiming to have seen a "devil chasing an angel" in a rain cloud. He was at the age where some schizophrenia symptoms begin to emerge. It's really only a theory and not totally far-fetched. In any case, no one on this website knows what really happened but, not unlike sports or politics, people have already chosen their victor in a situation where no one wins.
