Well done Chief, lucky for the Chief there wasn't a foot pursuit.

Maybe the Chief can teach some (NOT ALL) of the Officers on the basic skill of observation in detecting a crime in progress.

Nevertheless credit it due to the Chief, as most would sit behind a desk and rarely venture on the 'front line' of policing.

Police headed to crime scene make arrests in a drive-by drug bust
Saturday, September 23, 2006

While en route to the scene of a shooting on Thursday, Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comey spotted a heroin sale in process and arrested the perpetrators, police said.

Police said that on the way to the Bostwick Avenue shooting, Comey and a detective drove through an area known to be a hotbed of drug activity. On the corner of Carteret and Randolph avenues they observed a man walk up to a black four-door Nissan Altima and exchange what appeared to be a bag of drugs for money, police said.

Shortly thereafter, cops said they pulled over the driver, later identified as Michael Brzozowski, 27, of Florham Park, and found plastic bags of heroin in his car. Brzozowski was charged with possession of drugs and his car was impounded, police said.

Police also arrested the suspected dealer, Dwayne Scott, 35, of Jersey City, and found seven bags of heroin and $90 in his possession, police said. He was charged with drug offenses and a check of his identification revealed an outstanding arrest warrant, police said.
