I have used those plug-ins for mice before and they work. For roaches, I have always gotten those bait traps that they enter and die. I have also used sticky traps for both because roaches crawl on them and get stuck. Good luck!

Do the roaches that are commonly found in this area fly? I was sitting at the computer this evening and saw something buzz past my head, over the lamp, and land on the wall about 4' up. When I got close enough to smack it I saw that it looked very much like a cockroach. I never knew they could fly. This was in my living room and not near any food or water source.

Try Flash Exterminators in Union City. 201-348-1324.

I once had a problem with roaches, and they really helped out a lot.

I live in a pre-war 3-story building that has suddenly become crawling with cockroaches in the past 2 months. It is disgusting. I am a condo-owner here, but most of the other units are occupied by renters. I have finally been given clearance by the Condo Association to seek out an exterminator to treat every unit in the building, and all common areas. This place needs help! I would love it if anyone can give me recommendations for a good exterminator in the area, preferably who would have experience with old buildings like mine. We need to treat not only cockroaches but also mice. Luckily I have cats, and I've only been experiencing the cockroaches, but I know other units have both. This place needs heavy-duty treatment!

We had a roach problem, and used Flash Exterminators in Union City. They are really great. It's a family business and they own a pest control store up there. The owner's name is Orlando. He's the best.

They also sell a gel like the combat stuff which is great. It keeps roaches awayonce you solve the infestation problem.

Good luck.

The number is 201-348-1324.

My landlord uses Paramount exterminating. (201) 435-5900
The last time I saw the bill it was about $150 for them to stop by for ten minutes and spray around.

You can also pick up a gallon size jug of Ortho Home Defense for about $13 at Home Depot. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and you spray it along the base of your walls. Seems to work ok - it's probably the same stuff the exterminators use.

anyone know a good pest control company? we don't have serious problem. Just a little bugs and black ants showing during summer time. Therefore, we usually do it once a year and then we don't see any bug through out the rest of the year. The owner of pest control company we used to used is retired this year. I tried to call Orkin and they gave me a $435 quote for general pest control. We think it's too expensive. Just wondering if any one can recommand a good pest control company with fair price or a good pest control solution that we can do it by ourself.

If you're going to try the store bought route get the gel and squirt it around all water sources in the apartment. the stuff stains and doesn't wash off very easily so purposeful about where you squirt it. Then get the roach bait with egg stoppers and put those out as well. And finally buy a box of Borax detergent and pour a little bit behind you water heater and around water pipes. If you don't want it to be visible say beer bottle caps. Put the Borax in beer bottle caps under furniture and around the kitchen and bathroom.
My cats stay away from the borax and I've heard it's not toxic to pets so maybe you want to use that.

I would not recommend a bug bomb. They're pretty toxic and you and your animals have to leave the apartment for several hours. When you come back the chemicals will make you feel pretty ill.

We had a pretty bad infestation last year and since I used the gel, borax and egg stoppers I haven't seen a single roach, not even the little baby ones.

Btw I didn't use Pest Plus for the roach problem; they came to mouse proof my apartment because my cats are too lazy to their job. Everyone in my building used Pest Plus for the bug problem and they all agreed that they do a good job.

Call Scot Linde from Pest Plus (732-777-6857)
They are really good and very nice people.
My jaw dropped to the floor when I received a thank you note several days after I had service done.

Don't those plug-in devices you can buy from some stores work?
Some sort of ultra-sonic noise or something scares them off.

Anyone know a REALLY good exterminator in JC? My new apt is invested with a ton (and I really mean a ton) of roaches. I have pets so was hoping I wouldn't have to go this route, but it's really bad. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
