Tonight, there will be a special public meeting on the proposed AMB Warehouse Truck Terminal. Following is info received via email-

City Hall doesn't want to see people from one neighborhood and from one cause uniting with others from other neighborhoods and causes. The vote by the Council is predicted as being very close. Numbers of people will make a difference as always.

This meeting has only the huge AMB Warehouse Truck Terminal in the Marion area by the Hackensack River on the agenda. Most of the neighborhood is very opposed to this AMB Warehouse Truck Terminal. They have done a "literature drop" and are getting petitions signed. Some of you attended the Spring forum, which saw a public school top floor room filled with neighbors up in arms, many of them senior citizens.

The Mayor and some councilpeople are supporting the huge truck Terminal which inevitably will cause more congestion in our neighborhood. The majority in our neighborhood want open space as quality of life issue. The Mayor, who is doing ads on Channel 1, the JC channel, that should really be open to opposing points of view, but it never is. The Mayor's main argument is that 300-400 jobs will be created, but this neighborhood that is adjacent to the PJP landfill that burned for years, wants a different future than a huge Warehouse Truck Terminal. Jobs, of course are crucial to the city residents, but the extra traffic congestion is not wanted, and the neighbors are standing up - not wanting their neighborhood to be ignored anymore by City Hall regarding open space.

Hello All,

We are in the 10th hour of our cause. Monday, July 17th, 2006 the city council opens the PJP Landfill Warehouse/Open Space discussion to the public. The is a special meeting with the Warehouse/Open Space issue as the only topic.

It is our understanding the public is invited to speak out on this issue. We need your support to tell our City Council open space is a real desire in Jersey City and the propsed AMB Warehouse is a bad project for this city. The actual vote we be held on Wednesday, July 19th 2006.

Many people are planning to attend so, it might be best to arrive early to guarantee actual admission into the Council Chambers.
