We were admiring his peach pimpdaddiness when he passed by the wine bar last night at Cinco de Mayo. Too bad none of us had our cameras handy, though.

It's interesting that our friends from Brooklyn & Queens have been graced with the pimpdaddy's presence, though some people from around here [cough, E-F, cough, SkaDave, cough] have yet to see our downtown pimp!

Im so disapointed!! Ive never seen this guy! I think the reason why its posted in Crime & Safety is because of the 'pimp' definition.

Yesterday, approximately 6:50 p.m., walking north on Manila in front of J.C. Sakura. All blue, I believe.

I saw him in lime green for St. Patricks day and in lavender for Eastertime. Awesome! And why is this in Crime & Public Safety anyway?

Natch to orange suit- Looked like a creamcicle. Saw him riding the grove st. up escalator. The white cane doesn't really go with the outfit.

Saw him in the Halloween Orange outfit yesterday around 6:30 PM. He was talking on his cell phone, walking west on York before turning south on Varick.

Say what you will, but the man's got style!

I spotted him in the Pathmark on Grand his evening around 7:30 PM. Solid bright orange suit with a matching bowler brim hat. Wish I was able to take a picture.

he was in the same spot yesterday walking past merchant. all the people sitting at the tables out front looked up to check him out - he's becoming quite the hood celebrity. he had on a long, lime-green/aqua jacket that went down past his knees, bright hat and white shoes.

Just saw him on Grove across from City Hall. At least I think it was "the" downtown pimp. He certainly looked pimplike, especially because he was black. Jokes. He was less pimped out than I would have liked for my first sighting of him- all black suit and coat but with a red stripe on his black fedora of course. And a cool pair of shades. He just looked like a cool cat. As Joe Jackson said, you gotta look sharp.

Then, even worse, I did a careful double-check to make sure it wasn't Ornette.....

(bright moments will appreciate that....)

There is a rumor going around that he is a retired plainclothes policeman. This is typical retirement behavior for most of these guys.

Am I the only person in Jersey City who has yet to see this guy? WELL THAT STOPS NOW!

Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, fans of Larry The Cable Guy, all these mysteries pale before this elusive Phantom. And I swear to you, on the souls of my illegitimate children, that I will track down this fugitive & find out what his story is!

Pimp? Bootsy Collins groupie? Or just a wayward soul in need of a Mens WareHouse gift certificate!? I'm gonna solve this mystery!

Robert Stack sez;

"And if you have any information leading to the resolution of this, please post that information here. Maybe you, yes you, might have that one vital clue that could help solve a mystery.

Thank you.

And while I'm at it, who here doesn't think John Walsh ripped off my act, huh? That cardbord cut-out couldn't emote his way out of a paper bag! How I hate him! But I digress......."

Yes, that was me! I'm sorry but I don't recall who you were. But I snapped a few sly shots of him with the camera phone. Yeah, the walkie talkie phone was crazy. I almost asked him to turn it down.

About an hour ago I spotted the pimp at the corner of Jersey and Columbus. He was wearing a shiny red suit with what looked like a red top hat with a horizontal black stripe. He also had a matching red umbrella.

I was in the same car! Was that you with the Ann Taylor bag? (me with the William Vollmann book).

First time I've ever seen this gentleman, btw. Aside from his nifty attire, he was carrying on a rather weird/scary conversation with a young-ish sounding woman over one of those walkie-talkie phones where everyone can hear both ends of the conversation. Really loud. She was screaming, as near as I c ould decipher, about getting slapped and he was telling her to calme down, be quiet.

Yikes.

I see him all the time cutting through Van Voorst on the way to the PATH. Personally, I prefer the yellow pimp zoot suit. It just looks so wrong, it must be right!
