I've got to go along with JC Guys for the most part.
Journalists should report the news. There are so many other career choices for those who want to bring the light of goodness into the world. My particular beef with newsapers pressing people to see things their way lies with the editorial page, where the editor gets to proffer his particular visions and desires to the reading public. What gives them the right to do that, especially in a time when newspapers have seen fit to excise reader's opinions from the pages? Letter writers and comment contributors, in a fair world, should be given the same opportunity as the editor and the journalists. Who made those in the newspaper trade the arbiters of truth or deceit? As Joe Friday used to intone: "Just the facts Ma'am, just the facts." We can take it from there thank you.

He makes a very valid point about media and liberalism, one I've been making to my more conservative friends for quite a while now. Journalism as a career tends to attract liberals. I'm making a very generalized statement, and yes there are some very good conservative journalists. But all in all, most Journalists get into the business to help enlighten the world, to change the world for what they perceive is a better way. These are people who do lean liberal. But, and hear this very carefully, most good journalists realize their only real stock in trade is their reputation for fairness and honesty. They work very hard to report the news as they see it, verifying facts, double or triple sourcing what they put on the air or in print. I don't know the standards at NJ.com, but I know the standards where I work. I'm proud of the work the journalists I support do. And I know they do all they can to present a fair and balanced reporting of the day's news.

This is an amazing admission by a a senior executive at the Ledger (nj.com). Desperation is clearly setting in as circulation is in a serious decline.
Take a few minutes to read it: https://www.nj.com/news/2020/05/we-wan ... oing-to-address-that.html The Brave New World rolls on...or over.

Another example of the left falling into socialism which is the next step to communism. There is no free speech under communism.

You can place a call at CSPAN's WASHINGTON jOURNAL any day of the year but nothing beats a Letter to the Editor. The media cabals fear the public voice.

Shutting down the public comments sections started with leftwing websites like Salon, HuffPo and Daily Beast and eventually spread to CNN, MSNBC etc. all under the guise of stopping racism. The rare exceptions today are NYT, Politico and??? Just go to the left leaning Yahoo News, fortunately their comment section remains open, but almost all the "opinion" or "news" links they direct traffic to are no longer open forums. I am not sure why you got your panties in a bunch over what I wrote... but I am sure you miss the good old days reading the Letters to the Editor in the SL. Free speech was so much easier to control.

I used to be active on their Jersey City forums way back in the late '90s to early '00s. Some of the "editing" there reached comical levels.
After the 9/11 attacks, a number of people started posting about Golan Cipel's appointment by Gov. McGreevey in a post that had to do with anti-terrorism / home security, etc. The forum administrators would aggressively delete any and all references to Cipel. Certain posters would just keep posting his name just to see how quickly the posts would get deleted. It was only after the whole mess of "I am a Gay American!" McGreevey broke nationally that the deletions stopped and people were allowed to talk about the Cipel's role in the McGreevey administration. Cipel had high tailed it to Israel at that point. Note: For anyone that followed NJ politics closely at the time.. McGreevey being gay was the worst kept secret in Trenton. Nobody cared...

Actually, nicky, the Jersey Journal are not posting the snarky comments people are making similar to your snarky remarks. The paper is posting my "letter to the editor" which is on their website. I use a real name not a phony to post my comments. They are trying to get rid of people like you.

When they shut down the comments to that story, people would post their comments in other comment sections. Wow. Catholic priests abuse kids, and Planned Parenthood exists, therefore drag queens shouldn't be allowed to read Clifford the Big Red Dog to a room full of families.
Makes sense.

Oh noes! Where will Yvonne post her bigoted garbage now? I guess she?ll be posting here more often then. All the retired losers sitting at home and collecting government pensions will have to complain about Phil Murphy and government spending on Nextdoor.
