Federal judge tosses Kushner Companies lawsuit over $821 million One Journal Square project Updated 1:49 PM; Today 1:36 PM (08/08/2019) By Ron Zeitlinger | The Jersey Journal A federal judge has dismissed an 11-count lawsuit against Jersey City by the Kushner family’s development firm over the $821 million One Journal Square project that would have brought two residential skyscrapers to the heart of the city. The 19-page ruling, issued Wednesday, rejected the claims that the city voided the redevelopment agreement with Kushner Companies and its partner, KABR, because of “political animus toward President Trump.” Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, was CEO of the company until he stepped down to take a position in his father-in-law’s administration. https://www.nj.com/hudson/2019/08/fede ... urnal-square-project.html

Yeah, not the greatest diner, but one of the few late night options and one of the few non-fast food options. i really hope they start throwing more decent food options into this hood.
also, hoping this isnt going to be the pharmacy with surface parking that was proposed there a couple years back. there are literally 3 pharmacies within 1/4 mile from that location.

To think of all of the power brokering and envelope passing that has happened at that place over the years. An institution in Hudson County politics.

Here's another one to add to the list.... Google: PANYNJ Journal Square Transportation Center Jollibee lease Never understood why more businesses didn't take advantage of the 26,000 commuters who use the JSquare Transportation Center every day. The Transportation Center has had large foot traffic since it opened in the 70's.

Wendy's is coming back to JSQ. Signs went up on the old Chickpea location , right by Santander Bank. KFC needs to come back to the square as well like the old times.
Of the major fast food joints, both KFC and BK are missing in Journal Square.

Bidding was open to everyone and their mother. I agree the property is probably worth more, but other developers have got to do their due diligence and submit bids. I saw this RFP on JCRA's website for over a couple months. Not like it was a secret.

Residential projects near Journal Square given planning OK Updated 3:26 PM; Posted 3:26 PM By Terrence T. McDonald | The Jersey Journal JERSEY CITY — Two high-rises slated for the same block near Journal Square were approved by the Jersey City Planning Board Tuesday night over the objections of a group of neighbors who say they fear increased traffic and parking problems. The projects — 32 Oakland Ave. and 345 Baldwin Ave. — will include a total of 413 units and 202 parking spaces. They will sit on either end of a block that runs along Washburn Street, about a quarter-mile east of the Journal Square PATH transit hub. https://www.nj.com/hudson/2019/02/resi ... re-given-planning-ok.html

PJ Ryans in JSQ is busy at happy hour and weeknights, but pretty dead for lunch and weekend brunch.
I heard their next location to open will be in Newark by the Prudential Center.

That would be a shame, and a surprise. I haven't been there in a while, but the last time I stopped in, they were busy. I have always liked that place. Good bar food, and (usually) really good draft beer selection. I haven't visited the JSQ location (way too far for me) but I have heard it is actually really good.

i agree 150% that a museum in journal square is not the brightest idea. i think along the waterfront or near liberty science center makes more sense as it might be able to leverage off the foot traffic downtown/tourist, the mall or liberty science centerQuote:

Also, new spot Korai Kitchen on summit is excellent. Bangladeshi buffet, opened this past weekend.

Because the city record with museums and community centers is so great??? The previous expensively renovated museum on Montgomery was absurdly underutilized, there was a sweet little theater in there that was never used. And the school on 9th is supposed to be a community center too. Anybody ever go there? When HPNA wanted to meet there they made it such a PITA we stopped trying. I recall the gym was leased to St Anthonys to help pay the absurd cost of the building, what's doing there now? So here we go again!
