Jersey City to celebrate liberty and all things French

Today 4:39 PM (7/10/2019)
By David Mosca | The Jersey Journal

With Lady Liberty sitting right in Jersey City?s backyard, it?s only natural the Jersey City celebrates Bastille Day, a celebration of liberty worldwide, this Saturday, July 13, at the French American Academy at 209 3rd St.

Bastille Day is the national day of France, formerly known as ?la Fete nationale? (The National Celebration) and now known as ?le 14 juillet" (the 14th of July). Bastille Day commemorates the Storming of Bastille, which took place on July 14, 1789, and was considered a major turning point during the French Revolution. Bastille was the medieval fortress that represented royal authority in Paris.
