N.J. cops warn of panhandling scam group after catching woman with sign seeking cash to help baby

A police department in Union County issued a warning about panhandling scams after they caught a woman asking for money to help buy diapers for her baby despite having a new iPhone X and an expensive purse, authorities said.

Union police posted a photo on Facebook of a woman panhandling while carrying a sign which contained a photo of a baby she claimed was hers. The woman, who said she was from Romania, admitted to police she is among a group of women brought each day from Queens, New York to New Jersey to beg for cash.
