Thanks for the response, but as I said, the reserved area was clearly marked, and we sat outside of it. Your people screwed up several times over no matter how you cut it. If they actually mismarked the area, unceremoniously rousting guests out of seats in which they had sat in in good faith, and been in for more than an hour, is still nasty.

Hey Brewster, sorry you had a not great experience. Unfortunately some shows have different seating and pricing for seats, it must have been that you were in a reserved seat and that others in the balcony had been seated with the correct tickets. Ticketing varies from show to show, sometimes the balcony is open, sometimes it is not, sometimes the entire room has reserved seating and other times it is open for anyone to sit where they please. If you are looking to get a reserved seat for a show please make sure there is a ticket for that because most of our shows are general admission only. We do also reserve the ability to serve our ADA attendees as best we can and if you have a disability please email us in advance for accommodations to info@wehjc.com

Thanks,

White Eagle Hall Team

Had an unpleasant experience there my first time, for Ani DiFranco a few weeks ago. Having a bad back that can't take standing in one place for hours, we got there very early and got seats next to the marked and roped VIP area in the balcony, which was about 1/2 of one side. Just before DiFranco came out, a beefy security guard came and unceremoniously kicked us out of our seats saying we were in VIP seats, and someone had made a mistake when placing the rope. He insisted the whole side of the balcony was VIP and the many others would be ejected, but very few were.

Even assuming it wasn't the complete BS it appeared to be, had it been properly marked we could have chosen other seats. Smart businesses don't alienate customers by making them pay for your screwups. DiFranco was great, but the incident gnawed at me standing in the back of the balcony for the rest of the show.

Thank you for the legible post. Last month (or a few months ago) a list of White Eagle Hall shows was posted in a completely unreadable manner. This is sincerely appreciated.

Hello everyone!

We have a bunch of great shows coming up at White Eagle Hall! We are a newly restored and renovated historic theater located in the thriving nightlife scene of downtown Jersey City.

Here is a list of our upcoming shows:

Wednesday, July 11 ? Tanghetto

Doors: 7:00 PM
Show: 7:30 PM
18 and over
$20 - $25

?TANGHETTO? is an Argentinian New Tango Group (Tango Nuevo) of stellar musicians created by musician/songwriter and producer, Max Masri. Based in Buenos Aries, Argentina, they are famous worldwide, and have been nominated several times for the Latin Grammy awards, and won several others, including the prestigious Gardel Award. Their style is a blend of tango and electronic music. Their experimentation in studio started in 2001, but the group was formed as a band in late 2002. Max Masri was joined in the project by guitarist/composer Diego S. Velazquez and various guest musicians. The band?s current lineup includes bandoneon, violin, cello, acoustic piano, acoustic and electric guitar and drums, samplers and synthesizers. The main feature of their music, apart from the balance of electronic and ethnic sounds, is the strong presence of melody and song structure which creates an exciting new vibe.

Come for the music and/or come to dance at the Concert/Mega Milonga! The night will include an Introductory Tango Class preceding the concert from 7:30-8:30 pm by instructors from the Authentic Argentine Tango School, the only dance school in NJ dedicated exclusively to promoting the art of Argentine Tango.

Thursday, July 12th - Todd Barry 30th Anniversary Crowd Work Tour

Doors: 7:00 PM
Show: 8:00 PM
18 and over
$20

New York City-based comedian and actor Todd Barry is widely recognized for his roles as the bongo-playing ?Third Conchord? on HBO?s Flight of the Conchords and Mickey Rourke?s deli boss in 2009 Oscar winner The Wrestler, and renowned throughout the entertainment industry for his nuanced, measured, and thoroughly original approach to stand-up. Drawing audience members in with his deadpan self-deprecation and ability to pile punchline upon punchline, his decidedly low-key stage persona belies
a deeply intelligent, often biting, occasionally absurdist worldview, one lauded by discerning fans who seek a fresh yet honest update to traditional observation and social commentary.

Friday, July 13th ? The Get Up Kids

Doors: 8:00 PM
Show: 8:30 PM
18 and over
$26 - $30

The Get Up Kids are a band that grew up in public. Since forming in Kansas City in 1995, they?ve established themselves as a group whose music withstands trends and transcends the superficial in favor of something that stands the test of time. The four-song Kicker EP -- the band?s Polyvinyl Record Co. debut -- is the newest addition to their catalog of influential EPs (such as 1997?s Woodson and 1999?s Red Letter Day), as well as their first new release since 2011?s LP There Are Rules. Since that album came out the band have been touring when their schedules permits and living very adult lives that include activities like raising kids (Matt, Rob, Jim), moving away (James) and moving back (Ryan), starting businesses (Ryan), getting a degree in geology (Jim), joining a local kickball league (Matt), accidentally being electrocuted on stage (Rob), or simply struggling with social media.

In the spirit of collaborative albums, not unlike those of David Byrne and Brian Eno, each musician's individuality remains in tact, while in fact, on this record, both Hamilton's identity as a singer and Rostam's as a producer seem to reach new heights.
