Many of these proposals are from the same guy -- Paul Fireman, former CEO of Reebok, and owner of Liberty Golf Course.

Guess it's time to donate to FOLSP again....

JERSEY CITY ? A Formula One racetrack and stadium is being proposed for a swath of land in and around Liberty State Park

A bunch of formula 1 race cars will destroy any semblance of "peace and serenity" if they race at night forget about ever getting a decent nights sleep for a radius of at least 5 miles around the race track. Then add on the noise of 10,000+ fans cheering their favorite racer.

My parents used to live several miles from a racetrack in Riverhead and you could hear it clearly. Not good for LSP, even though as far as I can tell from this reportage the proposed track is entirely on private property. Are they going to take down all of those buildings including Camp Liberty, a JC treasure?

That proposal should and will not go anywhere. Out of curiosity where is the map of the proposed track? To me the only acceptable thing coming out of the recent proposals was to have a sailing school in one of the south marina. A small one restricted to say 20 small boats, and 20 parking spots and using a small facility that could be part of the building down by the flags.

Isn?t there a sailing school just in from the golf course already?

I love F1, but even I know this is a terrible idea that will never go anywhere.

Can these greedy jerks just stop it!

The mile-and-a-half stadium, which would include seating for over 10,000 people, would be located where a cluster of industrial properties sit east of the New Jersey Turnpike toll booth. The properties are surrounded by the park but are not owned by the state.

Maybe developers can put a track around the Xanadu development instead? After all, didn?t they convince everyone that it?s location was perfect for that sort of thing? You have to admit there?s plenty of open space out there. Leave our beautiful State Parks alone, they are NOT on the table for ?development ?.

It surely looks like the Energizer Bunny has staked out LSP. No sooner is one proposal shot down than another bounces up.
