Can't you just leave a thread alone without interjecting your own nonsense, do you feel so neglected that you need internet attention? Either contribute to the actual topic which OP is asking a specific question about a current storm or go away(preferably forever).

While the thread is about floods, I still remember being on Route 440 opposite Home Depot, seeing cars under water from a heavy rain. Mayor Fulop wants to build a new community, Bayfront, which is in the same location. He is putting more people in danger of floods and we, the public, will be responsible since this will be a public partnership. That does not make sense.

How was the flooding situation downtown yesterday? I made the mistake of trying to get to Newport Mall via Hoboken. South end of Hoboken was a shallow lake in places.

Looking way back in time:
In the fifties Montgomery Street and Mercer Street down from the Montgomery Street hill before the Turnpike would flood up to our waists. Needless to say this gave kids great joy and we waded right into it. Deep snow melts would cause flooding of homes all over the Medical Center and Montgomery gardens vicinity. At that time the area was largely industrial with large bakeries, laundries, trucking companies and paper mills covering the area (just a further reflection).

I think a year ago we got almost 4 inches in the span of a couple of hours. That caused much more damage than the other day. Water started backing up in my unit at that point but thankfully quickly receded. So we did have a worse storm in recent history. My place fortunately stayed dry through this last squall.

back in the day (within 2-3 years after hurricane sandy), first floor or below units in JCDT and hoboken were selling really slow. Then people start to forget about how bad it was.

One of my tenants showed me some photos he took when he was in Hoboken a few hours ago. Flood waters high enough to flood out some really expensive cars.

Storm causes flooding across Hudson County Updated 10:52 AM; Posted 10:29 AM By Ron Zeitlinger The Jersey Journal Vehicles are getting stuck on flooded roads across Hudson County this morning as the county is drenched by a driving rainstorm. Flooding is being reported throughout Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne and North Bergen, keeping tow operators busy. On both the east and west sides of Jersey City, the water is rising on roadways. Places like 18th Street and Marin Boulevard on the Jersey City-Hoboken border have been hit especially hard. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... y.html#incart_river_index
