Jersey City launches 'Year of Energy' to promote use of renewable energy, sustainability

JERSEY CITY -- The city has launched a yearlong initiative targeted at increasing pubic education around clean energy and reducing the city's carbon footprint.

Mayor Steven Fulop last week announced 2018 as the Year of Energy for Jersey City, which will include a variety of initiatives, events and programming designed to increase the use of renewable energy.

The city earlier this year was awarded a $30,000 grant to come up with a plan to decrease the city's carbon footprint and energy usage.
