If you need a lot of work done, and have limited insurance - Dr Arish Vahid is a great choice:

Dr. Nancy Hannah on JFK Blvd is the best. Our family of 5 has been going to her for 20+ years. Office is very efficient - minimal wait time.

I'd also recommend Dr. Vitale in Port Liberte.

Worth the extra hassle of getting over there, but Uber makes it all so much easier now.

Dr. Vitale answered my plea for help in the early morning hours one Monday many years ago when I didn't have a dentist and suddenly suffered from severe tooth pain. I've been devoted to him ever since.

He loves his work, you can tell. And everyone in his office is helpful and happy -- all the time.

Dr. Paramo at Hudson Family Dental on Central and St Pauls Avenues (just a few blocks from the resevoir)

She is FANTASTIC. I avoided the dentist for years because I hated going. She is great, as is the office staff.

Whenever I go to the dentist or a JCLIST dentist referral question comes up I always have to plug Dr. Shyne. He is the kindest gentlest dentist I have ever come across. I was always deathly afraid of dentists before finding him. He treats me like a baby telling me everything he is about to do and always asks if I feel any pain.(which I never feel) It’s a small office but he has all of the latest technology/tools. Just out to Rt 7…the Bellville Pike..past PIZZALAND (forgetaboutit)…make a right on Ridge Road and you are there.

Shaking this thread once again - I'm looking for a new dentist (live in the Heights, near Pershing Field) and work near City Hall in Manhattan.

Can anyone recommend any of the dental offices on Central Avenue and/or a short stroll from the Heights? Hoboken is a close walk too, now that the 100 Steps are back.

Has anyone used Giorgio DiVincenzo or David J. Lefkowitz as their periodontist? They share a practice at 312 Academy Street in Journal Square.

Montgomery Greene is awesome and the office is beautiful too. Highly reviewed on Yelp if that helps.

Highly recommend Dr. Colucci on JFK and Fairmount. My wife and I have been going to him for 5 years. Easy to get an appointment, always very quick, and accommodating.

Dr. Richard Cohen on Jersey Avenue is awesome:

http://www.innovadentaljerseycity.com/

He capped my tooth after I chipped it in the classiest way possible...on a beer bottle.

He had a good sense of humor about it.

I'm still a Dr. Paek fan. One to avoid, from my experience, is Lustiger.

Hey JCListers,

Any new recommendations on where to find a good dentist in Manhattan (or in downtown JC)?

This old thread is a little dusty... Thanks.

I went to Dr. Paek for a long overdue cleaning last month. It was one of my more pleasant experiences at the dentist. Everyone there is friendly and helpful.

My insurance changed last year and I had to find a new dentist. Dr. Paek (he goes by Andrew) was covered by my new plan so I went there for my 6-month checkup. The office is a little older, but all the equipment is modern (3-D X-Rays and such) and the staff was friendly and professional.

If you live downtown, you can't beat the convenience and you can feel secure about their services. I recommend Dr Paek with confidence.

I stopped going to JC dentists years ago when all of mine packed up and left. (I hope it wasn’t because of me) Luckily I found a great one in North Arlington, NJ. I know you people like to “shop” JC but if you really want to try someone great his office is a short drive from JC. Just out to Rt 7…the Bellville Pike..past PIZZALAND (forgetaboutit)…make a right on Ridge Road and you are there.

If you have not been to a dentist for a while or you are afraid of dentists don’t be, this guy treats you like a baby if he sees fear in your eye. (exactly what I needed) He tells you every thing he is about to do to you and always asks if you feel any pain. Great staff also.

I live in Hamilton Park and haven't seen any around here. Does anyone have a recommendation for an adult orthodontist (fine if s/he works on teens of course)? Preferably in the new Liberty Health complex or Newport area. Thanks!
