The 50 eateries participating in Hudson Restaurant Week this winter

Posted January 24, 2018 at 11:22 AM | Updated January 24, 2018 at 11:23 AM
By Patrick Villanova | The Jersey Journal

Foodies rejoice! Hudson Restaurant Week is back for its winter installment, with dozens of local eateries participating.

Launched 13 years ago, Hudson Restaurant Week is a bi-annual celebration of Hudson County's restaurant scene during traditionally slow months of the year -- January and July.

Twelve new restaurants are taking part in this winter's event, which started Monday and runs through Feb. 2.

At a glance they all look pretty good. Maybe not an amazing deal, but a decent one if you were planning to get dinner. All the restaurants I checked appear to be $40 or less for 3 course dinners.

Pasta e Vino for example is $35 for:
Appetizer ($9-10)
Entree ($14-19)
Dessert ($9-12)
Glass of wine ($8)

So going off their menu price, that's $40 - $49, or for restaurant week it's $35. Not mindblowing, but still pretty good, if you're picking the right things. Somewhere between 10-30% off.

I imagine most of the restaurants are similarly discounted.

edit: took a look at VB3 (aka Villa Borghese III. super confusing having two names, I didn't even know what it was at first).

Lunch $19 for Arancini ($11) + Smokehouse Burger ($15) so you save $7 on the meal. Not too bad.

The only one that stuck out to me was the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse $20.00 lunch. My wife and I have never spent less than $150+ tip in there for dinner, albeit with wine included. The Lobster bisque and desert alone are more than $20 if you order off of the menu.

Is it just me, or does anyone out there think none of these offerings are really of any good (not even great) value for the money?

wtf? knowing those restaurants, I could eat better off a la carte than getting the set menu at those prices.

I thought the point of these is to get people to come and sample what they have to generate more business.

Let me know if anybody thinks there's a good deal in any of those restaurants
