Try City Hall first.
"HOW DO I GET AN ELEVATION CERTIFICATE? If you are starting the Elevation Certificate procedure from scratch, check with your municipal government for any elevation information or certificate on file for your property. If none is available, you may have to contract a state-licensed surveyor, architect or engineer to do an Elevation Certificate. " https://www.insuramatch.com/learning-c ... ood-elevation-certificate

I believe this only applies to buildings that carry Federal Flood Insurance, right? I don't, and I took my chances based on my own research for my home's elevation. I was also mostly dry during Sandy except for a neighbor who didn't have a check valve on his sewer line and he got a few feet in his basement that seeped a bit through our common wall. This elevation map is excellent. You can scroll/zoom/center it to your exact location:

I assume others have received the notice from FEMA that you need an EC. Any recommendations on surveyors? Just seems like a racket cooked up by lobbyists, so I"m looking to get this done as quickly and cheaply as possible. thanks, DC.
