Just leaving Walmart (Bayonne) last night & they are making a Quick Check. It wasn't open yet but they have 2 brand new air stations outside that have free air! It has a nice gauge so u can adjust it to what u need, it is accurate cause I checked after with my gauge.
They also have 2 car vacuums outside but those weren't on yet & didn't say how much or for how long.

I go to get my oil changes there - is the air free and outside - or do you have to ask the mechanics for an air hose?

Free and outside, all the way to the right of the bay doors. They will also fill your car with air themselves

Yes, I still had to go to the service station for a plug. Having the compressor just gave me enough air to get there without having to change the tire.

Don't you still have to get the nail or screw out? ....and I think I would still want a patch (or a plug) for long highway use.

I did the same as well... agreed... a well spent $25.

Walmart currently has one on clearance for $15

I think the idea is just to get off the road to the nearest service, not get where you're going. The real idea is to save money and especially weight, so they can claim higher mileage. A smarter person than me would have just sucked it up and bought the aftermarket tire and jack kit.

I like a long truck type gauge & take it with me - like:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHROME-STRAIG ... 150PSI-BZTGT/302070353561

Turnpike has free air - as does all WaWa's -- and the gas station with the Dunkin Donuts by Hoboken as it for $1 and so does the one by the Holland Tunnel.

Our car came with a compressor and flat fix instead of a spare! They work but they're really slow.

I'm pretty sure the Wawa in Elizabeth on 1/9 has free air. Yet another reason to go to Wawa!

Quick Check has free air. I don't know of one in JC but sometimes when I'm on the road I just check on the air when I pass a QC because of this.

The Hess by Best Buy used to have free air. Do they not anymore? I feel like I used it within the past 6 months?

Plus the ones that take your money but don't work like the one at Pacific & Grand.

Remember when gas stations used to have FREE AIR along with a water station in case u needed water for your radiator.
Now I've seen that air is as much as $1.50
Gas stations also have vacuums to use & those are also pretty pricey for about 5 min of use & some aren't even times correct.
Let's post where they still offer free air & cheeper vacuum usage so we can take advantage of those services!
I miss the Hess stations cause they for a fact used to supply their customers with the free air for their car tires.
