Didn't get a drop of water in basement. Forecast was also a little off as far as rainfall amounts.

A building a few blocks from my place had a terrible time. Fire in the cockloft. The fire department had to cut section of the roof out to get to the fire.

Whatever the fire didn't destroy will have been destroyed by all that rain coming in.

Wet and the pump is busy. Just another typical Downtown rainstorm.

The high winds are going East of us and the heaviest rain West. No storm surge for us, but Eastern Long Island might have some issues.

I prefer the official forecast from the professionals at NOAA. 1 to 3 inches of rain with winds 25-35kt. Just a crappy day, nothing to get worked up over.

I hope that's all it is the high winds we had on Tuesdays storm damaged every plant I had outside. It knocked over a large plant that I thought was to heavy to topple.

Yes there is going to be some rain and wind and Sunday. There will not be 100 knot wind gusts. This is NOTHING like Sandy, there will be no major storm surge, nothing even approaching a flood on the Hudson.

It would be better if one wants to "sound the alarm" abount potential bad weather to refer people to a reliable forecast like the National Weather Service -- http://www.weather.gov/

For those concerned about flooding take a look at Stevens Flood Advisory System, you can sign up for email alerts -- http://hudson.dl.stevens-tech.edu/sfas/

The latest Euro model run shows two powerful low pressure systems coming up the coast. One of which is a tropical system currently in the Gulf of Mexico. The Euro shows a low going right over top of us with the tropical system feeding it lots of moisture.

Hurricane gusts for Long Island 100 knot wind gust for New England. 3 to 4 inches of rain for us with high winds and up to 8 inches of rain in northern NJ through the Catskills.

The other models right now are showing a more easterly track... still some nasty weather but not as bad as the Euro.

So far, no mention of a Sandy level storm surge in the forecasts.
