Do you guys think that we should change local campaign finance laws to limit the influence of individual donations to our elections? Could we have public funding laws for Jersey City that set spending limits?

We're not supposed to challenge people here at JCList?

Am I doing something against the terms and conditions here?

Should we all just sit with hands folded neatly?

I can't join discussions? How many people on JCList do you speak for? Millions of anonymous trolls? For all I know you live in Weehawken, Anonymous Person who speaks for billions of other anonymous people.

Look where ever you want, and decide for yourself. The $2000 that got spent on the ChicPeaJC article was the best money any politician ever spent.

I thought this thread was about smearing Symes. Not sure what exactly Solomon has done to rub everybody the wrong way. But Hudnut seems to be the only one immune to criticism on these boards. I'd come up with something against him but I'm pretty sure the entire Matsikoudis ticket is going to lose, so whatever.

Frankly, for many on JCLIST it is your shilling for Symes has made people look deeper. At one point there were a dozen threads running with your name all over my screen as the most recent post. Challenging people to look/compare Symes and Solomon resumes and then attack them because they have a questions is odd behavior. If this was an important forum, you would think the candidates would respond. I am saying this as a longtime Ward E Voter that has yet to make up my mind.

People who have used his services as a funeral director rave about his compassion. He deals with people when they are most vulnerable and comes out with flying colors.

He was instrumental in the development of The Brunswick Center. Transforming a closed school into the home of 15 small local businesses.

I like his personality and his low key approach. He has co-directed the local Italian feast without fanfare...just get the job done.

I think Nic Grillo is best suited to serve the people of Ward E.

I know that JC list will sway thousands of voters to change their mind.

Vote for who you think will best serve the people of Ward E.

Just don't vote for Solomon.

Candice Osborne 3,441 votes
Dan Levin 1,296

So far she:

Is paying $2000 rent

Paid a weblog for an ad and (Maybe??) an endorsement

Is in Real Estate

Real Estate is bad

Except when property values, parks and services go way up

But still bad

Is a lawyer

Didn't do a lawyer thing lawyers do

Real Estate bad

Jersey City was wonderful before development

Outsiders bad

Ladies bad

Something something

It's a little embarrassing that the worst thing you can say about a Council Candidate is that she didn't inform some law place she moved or someone was only a part-time professor. I've only lived here for 4 years. But Hudson County used to be famous for some actual real political shenanigans.

In Hudson County, the best candidates are always unemployed, and under or uneducated (Danny rivera, Chico, any Hudson County state legislator or freeholder). Fortunately for Solomon, he only meets 1/2 those requirements.

I mean, I'm pretty drunk. Lawyer did or did not do a lawyer thing? Are we mad at her that she's a lawyer or mad at her that she's in real estate? Because I honestly can't remember.

People do seem to definitely want to have something on her.

Not all people who work in real estate are evil. Not all anonymous trolls are either. Anonymous smear campaigns should be met with extreme skepticism. Most of the people who post here do not even live here. I think government should be responsive, transparent and should strive to learn from its mistakes.

I don't disagree. Just putting out objective information. Voters can make their own decisions but shouldn't be deprived of a complete record.

Jim, I think you should leave it at that. I'm sure you wouldn't knock anyone for their due diligence. Let the facts speak, let the voters decide. Rouse or not.
