Seems you're right, though there's a crapload of rentals, I thought coops hated subletting. Or are there different things in different buildings?

I think a lot of the co-ops are really being rented out - which is funny if that is not allowed - since the ban on Xmas lights is being enforced.

I'd bet the OP misspoke, and it's a condo. I don't recall there being any co-op hi rises here.

Our bylaws are specific about such things also, but we're a 6 unit condo building and no one really cares.
I have a pumpkin in the window.
Everyone would speak up however if I plugged something into the building's main electrical (we share that bill)
I HATE co-ops, one of the reasons we specifically bought a condo.

Just wanted to run this by you and see anyone of you have come across similar situation and would love to learn from your experience.

Our Highrise Co-op apartment building located right across Grove Street Path Station sent us a notice stating No lights of any kind may be installed or used on the balconies, rails window sills or windows. Even Christmas decorative lights are not allowed. I wonder if this is legal?

I'll greatly appreciate your suggestions/opinion in this regard.

Yup - it all goes by the rules and regs of your individual co-op. My condo has extraordinary strict rules about anything like this and you are fined if you deviate from their guidelines.
