Man arrested, charged with gunning down father of 3 in Jersey City

A 19-year-old man has been charged with gunning down a father of three last week in the Heights section of Jersey City, authorities announced today.

Jose Mojica of Jersey City was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit on Wednesday and charged with the Oct. 5 murder of Donald McLaughlin, a 37-year-old Union City resident, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

JERSEY CITY -- A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover funeral costs for Donald McLaughlin III, the father of three that was shot dead in Jersey City this week.

A father of three was shot dead Thursday night on Central Avenue in Jersey City.

Donald McLaughlin III, 37, who was walking on Central Avenue near Graham Street with his brother, was shot in the back at roughly 7 p.m., McLaughlin's dad, Donald McLaughlin II, said this morning at the scene.
