Let's not overlook the kindness of that woman with the kids. She cared enough to take the cat to the vet because she thought it was sick. It's nice to know there are good people out there.

Haven't had a drink in over 8 years - so unless this is some very very old story - you have the wrong person. In any event - just Google outside cats life expectancy - especially in busy Jersey City! This cat was lost on busy JFK Blvd - and article says they lost another in 2010 the same way. I give to TNR but too much goes to Pit Bull rescue and leaving cats outside in cruel and not a great answer.

Don't drink or pass out $5 bills but... Cats who are kept indoors can reach the ripe old age of 17 or more years, whereas outdoor cats live an average of just two to five years.

1. Two of my cats who were indoor outdoor lived to be 20 years old.
2. We take care of 3 former ferals in our yard who are fixed and vaccinated and are now 7 years old. 3. While I understand what you might be trying to say don't be such a judgemental prick. You have no clue what the circumstances are as to why this cat was outside. Stick to what you know, posting crap news and handing out $5 bills at bars.

Cats should not be left outside - or they have hard short lives (average 3 years vs 16 years) - and obviously a name tag and microchip is always a good idea -- but anyway let's hope Katy gets back home...

By Kristen Keller The Jersey Journal A Jersey City dance studio is asking for the public's help to bring its missing cat home. Katy, a 14-year-old Tabby, was reported missing around 4 p.m. Wednesday outside the Kennedy Dancers studio, said owner Diane Dragone. The cat has a medical condition that requires a her to be on a special diet and medicine, which she needs to survive. Dragone said surveillance video and photos show a woman and two boys purchasing cat food from KJ's Deli Grocery across the from the studio. They proceeded to pick up the cat who was sitting at the corner of Beacon and Central avenues where the studio is located, and took her with them. "They probably thought they were doing a good thing for her, but it could kill her," Dragone said. "We need her back." There is a reward for Katy's return. If anyone has information about the whereabouts of the cat, call the Kennedy Dancers at 201-659-2190 or email them at kennedydancers@aol.com. In 2010, the dance studio's cat, Bruno, went missing for four days before reappearing, seemingly unscathed.
