Yes, too bad no one listened. There has been many accidents all over JC with cars getting hit. Besides, it is difficult to jump in front of a train if it is elevated.

Between Richard Street and the Caven Point facility, there shouldn't be *any* passengers on board, let alone 300!

Can't believe nobody listened to Yvonne
 As far as I can tell/remember, this is only the second person to be struck and killed by the light rail *since it opened*. The first one was ruled a suicide. This one appears to be an accident, or at least negligent on the unfortunte victim's behalf. This is an incredibly low rate, especially compared to car traffic in JC.

Yvonne, anyone wanting to jump in front of a train car will do so whether it's elevated or not (if that's what happened). Anyone who does it by accident is proving Darwin. The HBLR probably wouldn't have been built if they had to build it elevated, the cost would have been much more.

This could have been avoided, when the lite rail route was being planned, I proposed an elevated route at a public meeting. The former council said, people need to shop and the route should be at ground level.

While everyone will feel simpathy for the deseased, this is terrible for the conductor. He likely never saw the victim and now maybe st live with the guilt. Just terrible!

on April 21, 2017 at 10:23 AM, updated April 21, 2017 at 11:25 AM A man was fatally struck by a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train as he was walking on the tracks in Jersey City this morning, NJ Transit confirmed. The man, who NJ Transit say was trespassing at the time of the accident, was hit by a northbound train traveling between the Richard Street station and Caven Point facility at around 8:45 a.m., NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said. Snyder said none of the approximate 300 passengers on board the train were injured in the accident. More (Read Comments, Too)
