We haven't been given a total number of victims yet for 2016 but it is higher than the previous years on record. I stopped keeping track in the summer when we passed the 2013 total.

The statistics for 2013 to 2015 are in the compstat page under the precinct stats on the black bar next to where it says "Links".

Funny thing, they haven't posted the 2016 numbers yet -- and 2013-2015 is actually fairly low

2013 = 107 shootings, 17 fatal
2014 = 86 shootings, 18 fatal
2015 = 101 shootings, 17 fatal

We also know that the number of homicides actually fell from 2015 to 2016:

2013 = 20 homicides
2014 = 23
2015 = 32
2016 = 29

And again... 2 months is not enough time to declare there's a pattern. If you look at actual rates, you see period spikes (e.g. summer 2014) that drop off quickly (fall 2014), and several months with almost no shootings (9/13, 2/14, 12/14, 2/15).

You really like to downplay the numbers and constantly bring up homicides. By the way you have the wrong statistics for homicides in JC. Even if you posted the true stats you would be right we had a couple less last year compared to the previous year but 2015 had 17 shot dead and last year 19 were. Also like I keep telling you I am talking about shootings and no other crimes.

You are also right two months isn't enough time to declare a pattern but two years is. Even if we have no shootings until spring it doesn't change the fact we have had the amount of shooting victims in two months we normally see in four.

Also if you compared the stats to other cities in NJ our numbers might be low but NJ also has some of the most violent cities in the country. It might be fairer to compare it to the worst parts of NYC.

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/n ... ootings-article-1.1081741

January to May 13th the worst Precincts in NYC

48th Precinct: 26 shootings (Fordham and West Farms)
40th Precinct: 23 shootings (Mott Haven and Melrose)
113th Precinct: 21 shootings (Jamaica, Springfield Gardens, Hollis and St Albans)
75th Precinct: 28 shootings (East New York)
67th Precinct: 29 shootings (East Flatbush)

Jersey City has had 30 plus shootings so far. Still think the numbers are low?

Is there an area on the site where I can look up stats for my neighborhood? I personally don't care about the stats in Greenville.

Almost a dozen of the shootings so far this year weren't in Greenville. Two were Downtown just not in a gentrified part.

You can look up crime broken down by Precinct but not neighborhood in the link I gave.

This is what I pointed out a couple days ago. The number of shootings has increased the last two previous years and so far this year the total is high for this time of year.

At this moment we have had at least 31 known shootings with 23 victims. In previous years we have had exactly 23 shootings between January and April. We have had the amount of shootings in less than 2 months we normally have in four and February still isn't over.

Can you source this, please? I'm not sure where to look. Thanks.

Three Jersey City men were shot in three incidents during a nine-hour span last night and this morning, less than a week after a similar shooting spree in the city.
