Disappointed to see no programming last night at 10:00 PM on the council meeting. I was told to contact Stephanie Daniels. For some reason there is never a problem running shows on the Mayor on Channel 96 but there is always a problem showing public meetings.

I want to thank Councilwoman Obsorne for responding to my concerns on the caucus and council meetings disappearing on Channel 96. For those with Channel 96, it is 10 AM to 2 PM in the mornings and 10 PM to 2 AM in the evenings. I still think an ordinance should be passed by the city council similar to the ordinance introduced by for Councilman Steven Fulop under the Healy Administration. The ordinance did not pass since Healy allowed the council meetings to be broadcasted, the caucus meetings were already broadcasted. Councilman Fulop said JC1TV should not be used for political purposes and I agree. I also believe the caucus and council meetings would not return if I did not bring this to the council attention.

I went to the Council meeting to request an ordinance similar to Fulop's ordinance requesting Healy to place council meeting on JC1TV. According to Councilman Lavarro, the meetings are being shown. Councilwoman Osborne contacted the person in charge with her cell phone. Fios has been down for 10 days and Comcast is showing the meetings twice a day. Unfortunately, that statement is false about Comcast. These meetings last 3, 4, or more hours. They are not being shown.
Fulop's ordinance did not past in 2010 because Healy Administration broadcasted the meeting without his ordinance.
I will continue bringing this up because it is an election year and our public television station should not become Fulop TV.

Your answer is funny, I am aware that the city gave Comcast Channel 1 and we got 96 in return, but there are no caucus or council meetings on 96. Basically, 96 has become Fulop TV.

So a member of the public should spend money because the mayor fail to keep his promise. Fulop is the one who demanded council meetings to be put on television.

There is a contract signed by the city of JC years ago to allow Comcast to run cables in JC in exchange for public access, this also includes access to filming meetings. You are talking expense, I am talking about a contract that the city enter with Comcast. For all intense and purpose, Fulop is using public access for his own personal use.

Years ago, Earl Morgan wrote an article on Bret Schundler doing something similar but at least Schundler had the caucus meetings on television, something Fulop is not doing. Money was given to the city for public access from Comcast for the public, instead that money went to city hall which put in a studio.

It is time to stick to the subject, many people do have cable they choose to have cable and to bring up the subject that cable is expense is a strawman argument. It has nothing to do with the subject.

Screw channel 1 and move everything online.

There is no Channel 1, JC had Channel 1 for years on Comcast, it is valuable and Comcast wanted it. We gave it away under Fulop. It is now Channel 96, yes it is already on line but it takes weeks for it to appear and the audio is poor. The audio is better on television. There are people in this city that did watch the city channel and the mayor has no right to take this away from them. By the way, the Board of Ed has Channel 97 and they do show public meetings on education.

Channel 1/96 is biased against families that don't have cable. Move everything online along with live streaming.

The mayor's action of removing caucus/council meetings is bias against citizens who pay for cable and want to see these programs. Who are you to judge what service someone should have?

The point is, cable costs money and providing a service only on cable may be a burden for those who cannot afford or choose not to subscribe. Online is free if you go to the library.

Your paying for cable, expecting a channel that you aren't getting, can be easily resolved. If you don't get the channel you want, stop paying for cable. Cable packages change ALL THE TIME.

Don't confuse what someone has the "right" to do and what you think is right. I'm sure once upon a time someone said that a government had no right to ban horse drawn carriages from the street, too, but society progressed to cars. Now, society has progressed to the internet.

If you actually believe that he has no right to change your programming, then you have the right to take legal action. Simple as that.

The councilman wants the meetings on tv, but mayor apparently does not. Same person, different titles.

Ralph, I know about the online version but that thats weeks to post. In the past on Channel 1, the caucus meetings were posted the next day, it also applied to the Council meetings, they were posted immediately. These meetings have disappeared, this is not right. Fulop campaigned as a councilman to have council meetings on Channel 1, well, he should keep his promise. The city is showing festivals from the summer not current caucus or council meetings. By the way, Ralph, the online version audio is not as clear as the version on television.

Since Jersey City gave up Channel1 and now have other stations, the city is not broadcasting caucus and council meetings. The Jersey City station is busy broadcasting things the mayor do. Could someone from the city explain?
