(Excerpt from a LHS email received today)

Many of us could use a bit of comfort right now, and LHS has unconditional love to spare.

There are a lot of things we can't control in this world--and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. So during dark, snowy times like this I take a deep breath, focus on what I can accomplish....and pet a cat. Seriously. The key to this equation is the cat (or dog).

Pets can make you happier, healthier, and more resilient. So starting tomorrow through February 14th, we're waiving all adoption fees on cats older than 4 months and dogs over 40 pounds (check out some adorable dog valentine photos here).

Local change begins with you. And giving a homeless pet the chance at a lifetime of new happiness is a small, but simple way to say- loud and clear- "I'm here, and I care".
