You absolutely would - because it will never happen, and you know it. Just like "the war against Christmas", dangerous Mexican rapists poring over the southern border and other whiny conservative bullshit make-believe victimization.

You asked a question and got an answer. Guess the answer goes against your silly worldview so you couldn't handle it.

Except the question wasn't to you. But thanks for pooping on a paper plate and leaving it here. Certainly enhanced the discussion.

From the judge that ruled in the case. In 2013, U.S. District Court Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled that NYC police violated the U.S. Constitution in the way that it carried out its stop-and-frisk program, calling it ?a form of racial profiling? of young black and Hispanic men.

So technically stopping people to frisk them is not unconstitutional as long as there is a reasonable basis for suspicion, AKA a "Terry" stop. But the stops the NYPD practiced were far from having reasonable suspicion.

My $0.02, If you fit the bill for an person actively being sought after by the police, or they have reasonable suspicion that you are committing a crime, by all means stop people and question them. Though I would argue that being a minority and living in the projects does not constitute reasonable suspicion.

Just to sum it all up for you, a "Terry" stop where the police have reasonable suspicion would be within the police powers and constitutional to stop people. Stopping people because they fit a racial profile is unconstitutional and it opens up the city to civil right law suits.

Exactly, the police in JC already perform Terry frisk and the general public on both sides of the argument have no problem with that because the right criteria is followed.

It is when people say we need "stop and frisk" is when those against it have a problem because we know what they are really asking for is the version NYC used to use.

But let's pretend it was used in JC the same way NYC used it. Does anyone with any sense of what actually goes on in the street honestly think it would work and stop the shootings? Read through the articles of the majority of the shootings, the suspect usually arrives and flees by bike or car not on foot. Also when drug dealers or gang members keep a gun for protection they stash them, they generally don't keep them on their waist all the time like in the movies. They stash the guns in trash cans, wheel wells of parked cars, mail boxs, alleys etc. Besides let's say they do get caught with the gun between moving it from point A to point B according to the new Bail Reform laws in NJ they will be released back onto the street with no bail since gun possession isn't a violent crime.

All Stop and Frisk like NYC would do is make the law abiding general public resent police even more since they feel like they are being victimized by both criminals and the police that are supposed to protect them from the criminals, not treat them like one.

If I lived in an area that was overrun by white gangs and had a lot of violent white crime, getting so bad that innocent people on a bus are subjected to machine gun fire from white gangs, I would certainly support stop and frisk of white people.

Particularly young white males, as they would be the overwhelming source of these violent crime problems in this scenario.

You better believe that I'd prioritize my life and safety over liberal concerns of not "furthering negative stereotypes" or the latest liberal nonsense in opposition.

Back to page one of the playbook, Mary Pat? You don't like the answer then come up with unsubtantiated attacks and namecalling. Suprised you didn't say something was "rigged".

Sad!

That judge is a nut... nothing unsubstantiated here.

why is she a nut? because she thinks outside the box? refuses to follow standard operating procedure?

Where do you get this? Stop and frisk (aka a "Terry stop") is neither random nor unconstitutional.

i think it was demonstrated that stop and frisk was ineffective...not to mention that it infringes on people's rights....oh guess what, crime in nyc is falling even though stop and frisk has been curbed....what say you?

Typical dog whistle response whenever stop and frisk, juvenile curfew restrictions, and other community policing solutions are suggested. (btw, NYPD made 24,000 stop and frisks in 2015-because if a 6'5" Asian is reported to have pointed a gun at someone, they'll stop every 6'5" Asian they come across).

Holy Christ. Why don't you go ask all the people in the projects in NY think about stop and frisk. No matter what you use to justify the policy, it's unconstitutional to stop people at random (or just because you happen to be a minority) and search them.

The end will never justify the means.

The 87 bus was near Bidwell Avenue at about 7 p.m. when shots were fired in the neighborhood. Bullets shattered at least one window on the bus, NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said.

None of the 25 passengers were injured, but the driver was brought to Jersey City Medical Center with an injury from the shattered glass, Smith said.
