GM's Maven car-sharing service expands to 13 cities

General Motors' Maven car-sharing service has expanded to 13 cities with the recent addition of Denver, Orlando, San Diego and Jersey City, N.J.

Available models include the Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon; Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu, GMC Acadia and the Cadillac ATS, CT6, CTS and Escalade. Several vehicles will be equipped with either a bike or ski rack.

The service, launched earlier this year in Ann Arbor and Chicago, is also available in Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

More than 13,000 members have joined Maven and have traveled 28 million miles.

Pricing varies by market and vehicle rented. In Chicago, hourly rates start at about $8, including insurance and fuel. Registered customers use the Maven app to reserve vehicles.

Eco-friendly car-sharing service opens in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY -- An electric vehicle charger company and a car-sharing service have teamed up to offer their services in Jersey City.

Greenspot, which develops electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in urban cities and for municipalities, has built 10 curbside EV charging stations with 19 charging arms within a few blocks on First Street and another one station is under construction on Brunswick Street.
