JERSEY CITY — A power outage affecting about 10,000 customers occurred around 10 p.m. Monday, a spokeswoman for the utility said.

The city said the outage was caused by a problem at the Morgan Street station.

Power was expected to be restored "within the hour," the PSEG spokeswoman said around 10:45 p.m.

Where is "here"?

I am assuming BigGuy is on Grand, by St. Peter's Prep, as he described that area in his earlier post.

Seemingly all of DTJC is out. A few high rises seem to be running on generators (50 Columbus, The Morgan, The One) but it is otherwise pitch black out there.

seems likely the sirens we're all hearing are due/responding to this outage?

There's a crazy amount of fire trucks and emergency vehicles heading to the parking lot of the Holland motor inn at the Holland tunnel toll plaza. There is an electrical distribution shack in that parking lot.

Anyone know about a power outage in the 9th Street area by the mall - it happened just before 10pm?
