I use this site for model data. Not the best UX on a mobile however: http://weather.cod.edu/forecast/

Twister data is another site

Well, what's funny (not ha ha) is that we got hurt much worse in our basement with Irene than Sandy. But, yes, as far as storms go, Sandy eclipsed Irene.

I respected Bastardi when he admitted he over-hyped Irene. All the news outlets were harping on this monster hurricane when if they bothered to see the wind speeds from the weather buoys, it had max winds of under 55 mph.

Yes, I know they also were the only ones who predicted consistently some storm/hurricane last year NOT hitting us when all other models were aligned at devastation for us. Joe stuck by his prediction and he/model were right. I should subscribe, thanks for sharing.

Weatherbell. I have a subscription with them. I got it because they had Sandy predicted correctly nearly 2 weeks out, when the other services had the storm going out to sea.

As a result, I had a generator ready. It came in handy

The Weatherbell forecast from early this morning has a Cat 2 storm forming off NJ, moving north, passing close to eastern Long Island and Rhode Island.

My FIOS is down until tomorrow, so I am hot spotting off my cell. Downloading the info is a bit clunky.

The GFS and Canadian updated models are showing basically a Nor'easter. Rain, wind, but nothing too serious.

The update for the Euro model is starting to show something more ominous, kinda following what the Weatherbell people have been saying: The storm backs up and strengthens over very warm water. I had to split up the run in three gifs..

So far its just going to be wind and high surf for us. However, each update has been showing the curve back to land to be more pronounced. The models will be updated very late tonight.

JCGuys. Happen to have the Northeast US from whatever site you found that? Or maybe a link?

I looked at a couple of models after I saw MDM's post and this morning we were on the fringe but it was trending back onshore. MDM has regularly posted helpful and informative weather-related info here. I'd rather have a 4-day heads-up of the chances rather than find out on Channel 4 news less than two days before that we got a nasty one coming...

The guys over at Weatherbell think the storm will curve back inland (i.e. Sandy style). The water temps off the coast are way above normal, so it looks like we may have a full hurricane (Cat 1 to Cat 2).

The computer models are starting to show the curve back in also. When they update in the afternoon, I will post some screen shots.
