...A Jersey City man spotted an unattended sailboat floating in the water at the landing, where his own boat was docked. The sailboat's motor was still running when officers arrived, according to police report from the incident.

The unattended boat -- named Veronica -- is registered to a 39-year-old New York woman. The owner arrived at the scene and said Brown left a New York City dock at about 8:30 p.m. and was expected to dock in Jersey City, the report states.

The sailboat Veronica was a rental from this company

So he was a slip holder at liberty harbor? Boy what a shame if this is how it happened. There are a lot of other theories out there. Tragic

I know I was one of the last people to see Rodger before whatever terrible thing happened. He was at Pier 25 in Manhattan dropping off the crew and I was walking over to his boat to be social; he left the dock solo not sailing, just motoring to deliver the boat back to the Jersey City Marina.

The theory that the owner of our friends at SAILORS NYC told me is that he must have slipped at the dock in Jersey City as he was getting off the boat and possibly got knocked unconscious? It was around 9:00pm.

Whatever your hobby, sport, etc be safe.

Sad. I didn't know him well at all, but I helped him back up into his slip a few weeks ago, and this is pretty chilling. Rest in peace Roger.

So awful , a long time Pint customer went missing Friday while working on a boat, he was an amazing person, he loved trivia and was the kindest man I've ever met. Rest in peace Roger.

We were riding our bikes there today just before 4 and didn't see this happen. Instead we witnessed a bunch of knucklehead jet skiers leaving Surf City, drinking, text and causing a ruckus in the channel.

What a shame.
