I always found it funny he uses that excuse but would try to call Healy out when he used the same one.

The gang problem needs to be addressed not national gun laws.

One of the victims of the shooting Tavon Rush fled the halfway house not long after 17 year old Rondell Rush was killed last month 3 blocks from where he was shot.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has released the names of the two men involved in Thursday night's shooting on Stegman Street and Bergen Avenue.

At about 11 p.m. that night, Jersey City Police reported to Stegman Street and Bergen Avenue on the report of a shooting.

When they arrived, police found the victim, Tyrell Franklin, 28, of Jersey City, in Audubon Park with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, according to a statement by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene at about 11:25 p.m., the statement says.

Police discovered a second individual on Stegman Street, who has been identified as Tavon Rush, 33, of Jersey City, with multiple gunshot wounds to his mid and upper body, according to the statement.

Rush was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, where he remains in critical condition, the Prosecutor's Office says.

Matt Schuman, a spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Corrections, told The Jersey Journal yesterday that Rush failed to contact his halfway house after leaving for school on April 28. He had been missing since and was officially considered a "walkaway," Schuman said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shootings, according to the statement, according to the statement from the Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Homicide Unit is investigating the case with the Jersey City Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office at (201) 915-1345 or leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office official website at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/

All information will be kept confidential.

Franklin's death is Hudson County's 10th homicide this year.

Jersey City Public Safety Director James Shea told The Jersey Journal yesterday that the city is continuing to use a "a large increase in overtime" to make sure foot patrols are out in areas with high crime rates, specifically the West and South districts.

"We have, since October, put extra resources in those areas," Shea said yesterday. "There are 30 to 40 percent more police officers in the South and West districts than there are in the East and North districts."

JERSEY CITY -- One person is dead and two others were left injured after shootings on the south side of the city overnight, officials confirmed.

At about 11 p.m., police responded to a shots fired call on Stegman Street near Audubon Park. A male victim was found inside the park while the second was outside a Stegman Street home, according to police radio transmissions.

Gene Rubino, the Acting Chief of Investigations for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, confirmed the victim found in the park was killed in the shooting.

In the radio transmissions, bystanders could be heard yelling "oh my God." Police believed to have spotted the suspect in a backyard on Stegman Street, but it's unclear if an arrest was made. A gun was recovered near the scene, police said over the radio.

Additional information on the investigation was not immediately available.

Shortly after 1 a.m. another man was shot on Woodlawn Avenue, according to police radio. The victim ran to his house, about four doors away from where the incident happened, and called police.

Police said over the radio the victim may have been shot with a BB gun and had injuries to his back, arm, and side.

Seven people have been shot within a 26-hour span in Jersey City. At about 11 p.m. Wednesday, three teenagerss were shot near Ocean and Winfield avenues, officials said. One of the victims, 18, was listed in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Then on Thursday evening, a gunshot victim walked into Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health for treatmetn, Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said, although additional details on the person's injuries was not immediately available.
