It's probably either aspestos or chromium dust!

Good morning, the cloud of dust is happening again today. Large dust clouds coming off the site drifting into the city. I drove by the site this AM on my way to work and confirmed it is coming from the same place. Based on their website, could this be contaminated dredge blowing around? http://www.cleanearthinc.com/locations/koppers

I hope not, if so, there can be some real nasty pollutants we are all encountering!

It's not the old. They have been dumping and grading a massive amount of fill on that site for a while. I think I remember reading the plan was to raise its elevation to make it less flood prone. Originally there was supposed to be a waste to energy facility built there years ago.

It was a facility coal was 'cooked' into coke, coal tar, and producer gas (the gas that was used for cooking and lighting before being replaced with natural gas).

Oh wow, that is next to the site I posted. So it's the sediment from there blowing around?

We just drove through it as well, just where Bear described it. Didn't stick to the car however.

I just drove through the source. Its coming off a freshly cleared dirt site west of the owens corning building on Route 7.
I couldn't see driving through it!

The dust did show up as a spike in particulates in the air monitoring station:

I figured it was just dust from around the streets. The cloud explains why my allergies were so hellish this morning.

I have pictures i will try to find a place to post online. Seems to be coming from the meadow lands, anyone know what it is?
