Walked into the police precinct the day after the article was published to ask if they had any further details re the murder. The police had no idea what I was talking about and I ended up sharing the link from my phone.
This is literally 3 blocks from the station ~ go figure ~ and the 2nd muder that's occurred since I've lived here ~ the other was a grocery store owner on Coles, between 6th & 7th, who was shot in the head during a robbery attempt.

Grocery store owner was years ago

Doubt it's a coincidence that the same corner had a shooting when the gang beefs started up again and also had one in November when it was going on too.

and thank ghu for that, because if they didn't there'd be a lot more serious injuries and deaths.

Once again, they're back at it...

And yet, JC only succeeds at preventing honest, law-abiding people from owning guns.

Nothing on nj.com, nothing on PATH's Twitter, not seeing anything on Google News.

Does anyone know, is there a good local news site that would cover things like this in general?

I tried to listen to the scanner but I didn't hear much. I heard the word "flatline" but I don't where it happened. Then I heard talk about warning the hotels on Washington St about something.

I did hear that there were not enough cars to go around.

Scary if true about not enough cars to go around. The response on 4th and Manila seemed to be pretty quick since the yo's were barely a block from the scene when PD showed up (though, this is only mere blocks from the East District). I could hear a few laughing with each other on the way back about how its "different for [kids] these days" and you "can't get away with the same sh**," but I'm only assuming they were talking about the same incident.

Yeah. They probably dispersed and got on the light rail.

Over the summer a man was found on the side walk, face down at the corner of 6th & Coles. He was taken to a local hospital and later transported to another, where he eventually died. Jersey Journal reported that his death had been ruled a homicide.

Does anyone know if there was another "shots fired" call last night at ~10pm on 4th & Manila?

I went out to Manila after hearing the first sirens and saw a half-dozen little yo's in red scurrying away.

I didn't hear anything, but had the TV on, so maybe it was low caliber.

I'm curious if it's related to the spate of shootings elsewhere in JC. Either way, I assume Dear Leader is silent as usual (unless he sees an opportunity to invoke MAIG propaganda).

whewee, walked past a decent sized crowd of ppl chillin on that corner last night. makes you wonder which of them figured they had to pop at someone to resolve whatever the #OOPS#.

honestly, i'm kinda surprised it hasn't happened sooner. that corner's always had a fair amount of mostly young men just hanging out all the time. the cast of characters would change, but the demographic always stayed the same. same group that had that harassment crap with someone on here a few years ago.

and long after the sun would go down, you'd still have cars pulling up on 4th st -people would just idle with the group for a bit before driving off, slapping hands surreptitiously.

Could it be related to this, which references someone getting shot in the arm on 6th street?
