A 72-year-old Jersey City man was arrested yesterday and charged with sexually assaulting a child, as well as a slew of child pornography offenses, according to a criminal complaint.

The Montgomery Street resident, who's name has been omitted from this report to protect the identity of the victim, was arrested yesterday morning at his home and made his first court appearance yesterday via video link from the Hudson County jail.

According to the criminal complaint, the man performed a sex act on a girl under the age of 13. Upon being arrested, the man was also charged with reproducing images of a child engaging in sexual acts, possession of child pornography on his computer, and offering child pornography to others, the complaint states.

The Special Victims Unit of the Superior Court set bail for the man at $200,000 cash only. If he were to make bail, he is prohibited from making contacting with the victim or any other children, official said.
