New publisher named at The Jersey JournalBy David Blomquist has been named publisher of The Jersey Journal, a company executive announced today. Blomquist, a former editor-in-chief of NJ.com who has recently been a strategist and mentor to leaders at several Advance New Jersey companies, takes on his new role immediately, Penn Jersey Advance Central Services President Richard Diamond said. Blomquist "brings to The Journal a deep understanding of our mission and our business, and shares mydetermination to reinforce The Journal's position as Hudson County's leading source of local news, information, and advertising in print and online,'' Diamond wrote in announcing the appointment. In a meeting with Journal staff at the its Secaucus headquarters this afternoon and in a note to all employees, Blomquist reached into the 148-year-old paper's rich history to describe the awe he felt on becoming publisher.
