That's what I figured. I'm moving out of my apartment at the end of the month regardless, and I'll stay with family until the whole student/intern thing ends. Thank you

Thank you everyone. I am open to the Heights as well as McGinley Square. I saw some studios and apartments for rent between 800-900 just weeks ago so I know they exist. I appreciate everyone's help

If you can wait a month or two, you would be in a stronger bargaining position. When looking for rentals, Summertime is a tough season, and particularly around August. Traditionally, this is when new, incoming classes of new graduates (lawyers, finance types, interns, etc) start to pour into the area to start their new jobs.

He or She is looking in JSQ or Westside not the Heights..

And "basement apartments are illegal" is absolutely not true. Cellar apartments are illegal, and there is a world of difference. If it has an emergency exit in addition to the door and is more than 50% above ground it is generally legal. There's a few more criteria like headroom and stuff.

Open up your query to NextDoor as well. There are people that are looking to rent out or maybe have contacts there.

Hi!

You may have to up your price a bit, I rent apts in Greenville and I don't have anything less than $1100.00

$900 these days rents you a room not a entire apt, not even a studio, especially in JSQ or Westside. You maybe able to find something in a 2 family house near MGS.

I did find this 1.5 miles from square.. maybe its still available.

Best of Luck!

Hello everyone,

I currently live in the West Side, and I work in Journal Square. I'd like to live in either neighborhood, but I am having trouble finding a place to live, especially when it comes to affordability.

I am looking to spend no more than $900 a month, and even that is pushing it. I would rather live in a tiny studio than a share; I shared for long enough now.

Is anyone here a landlord/owner looking to rent out an apartment? Please let me know!

Thank you in advance.
