- In an effort to enhance public safety and improve community relations in two districts troubled by a recent spate of violence, the city's police department has assigned its newest crop of officers to walking posts in those neighborhoods.

All 32 newly sworn-in officers recently completed training to monitor walking posts located along Martin Luther King Drive, Bergen Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Monticello Avenue and Rutgers Avenue, which span the South and West districts of Jersey City.

Each district has received 16 new officers, city officials said.
