I am surprised the city does not use the stage at Five Corners Library. It is large enough for a performance and it is in the neighborhood of the Indian community.

A fencing class is coming to The Bethune Center of #JerseyCity! Like our other classes, this one is FREE. However, preregistration is REQUIRED. The Mary McLeod Bethune Center in Jersey City will be transformed in a mini Bollywood tomorrow night in a special performance sponsored by the city.




The city's Community Awareness Series and the Nrityalina Center for Performing Arts are hosting the event that features choreographed Bollywood dances performed by Jersey City residents.

Join us for an evening of exciting entertainment as the Bollywood performers captivate us with their graceful, well choreographed dance moves. Bollywood Dance is based on a fusion of traditional and modern Indian dance steps that combine timing, rhythm, energy, and sharp controlled expressive movements.

Due to the Election today, the Financial Literacy courses have been postponed. There will be NO Workshop today! The new date and time for the Financial Literacy Workshop is Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 7:30pm.

As we get closer to the new date we will send out a follow-up e-mail with a schedule that provides a layout of the specific topics for each workshop.

Workshops will be hosted by Mr. Albert Santizo, a veteran of the financial services industry.

Actor Derek Luke, from the hit TV series "Empire," is returning to his home town of Jersey City to speak Sunday afternoon at the Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center.

"Me and my family will be here ... to love on you, encourage you, pray for you and impart to you," Luke said in a flier for the event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m.

Luke, 41, who attended Snyder High School, has starred in hit films "Biker Boyz," "Antoine Fisher," "Glory Road" and "Captain America: The First Avenger."

Hope this email doesn't find you all too late. I just got in and am going to have to make a "command" decision and cancel Boot Camp for tomorrow due to the dangerous weather we will be receiving. Sorry if this is an inconvenience, but I want you all to stay home, stay safe, and continue the fight next week at our Fitness Boot Camp. THERE WILL BE NO BOOT CAMP 2/13/2014, MORNING OR NIGHT, BETHUNE AND PERSHING.

Bethune Boot Camp will resume on February 17 @ 6am.
