Belmont and Kennedy- the "u" street. It is county property and no one ever has to worry about street cleaning there. You can drive up and hang out waiting for a spot, then uber home for $10.

When I first moved to JC the end of Columbus approaching 78 was not alternate side parking, just zone parking. Those were the days! I'm pretty sure they've closed most of those loopholes now. Sorry OP.

When I need to garage my car I call in a favor with people I know in Bayonne. I just park on their street and they keep an eye out and move my car if need be.

Streets not zoned (in white) used to be free of parking regulations. At least in the NW of downtown. Might have changed.

I don't know what the current status is, but Marin south of Grand used to technically be a private road and have no restrictions. Liberty Harbor used to be a good cheap option for leaving a car, as well.

I'd also have a look in the no-mans land between JC and hoboken. Lots of commercial vehicles are stashed there.

I've been booked for work four days out-of-town and am looking for free or low-cost options for my vehicle as I'm carpooling out to western NJ.

Anyone know of streets free of alternate-side parking rules?

Thanks in Advance...

I don't know of any in the LSP area. There are some in the DTJC area (very few) but they are zoned, so any car parked for more than 2 hours, without a resident permit, risks getting ticketed.

Your best bet is using one of the lots in DTJC (per day fees should be under $20) or, if the carpool route passes close to Newark Airport, you could use one of the off-airport long term lots, which can be super cheap (under 10 per day). I have used ABC Parking, and it is pretty cheap.

But, downtown has a TON of lots.
