Another vote for Waze here - drove all over JC and points South all weekend with no traffic problems due to this app.

Waze and google map traffic provide excellent local coverage. I always check the traffic layer on google maps before leaving the house - and the Android/iOs Waze app while driving.

And the Pulaski westbound seemed fine this weekend - with minor delays down to plates on the road just past Tonnelle - though both westbound lanes were open.

PS: I think the reason why the Waze/Google combination works so well is traffic is collected by Wazers traveling in real-time - and feeds traffic updates in both google and waze. You're effectively seeing real-time traffic data sourced directly from people in cars.

Same mess today Sunday (4/26/15) along rt 440 except now it starts(aka stops) around Home Depot. You would think the county or jersey city would have cops at the loop to get into the Hudson Mall.

You gotta love the a-hole box blockers who know dam well they are going to block the intersection when the light changes to red for them. The ones who just give you a shoulder shrug when you lay on your horn to get across.

tern: from what I read... the two inbound lanes of the Skyway are totally closed. The 2 outbound lanes close periodically. When the two inbound lanes are done they are going to use them as two outbound lanes while they work on the real 2 outbound lanes.

The Skyway is supposed to be shut for 3 years, it can't be open.

Bad communication by the State. The Skyway is open this weekend, though there is nothing about it on their website, only the original announcement that the Skyway would be closed for eight straight weekends.

Before I travel on the Skyway, I look at the webcams on Traffic Tracker to see the conditions. There are two cameras working now, a third one is pointing at the ground.

I had every intention of going down 1&9 Truck last Saturday, but found the Skyway open then, too ... this after the "eight weekends of closures..."

I was on the Turnpike Nwk Bay Extension this morning around 8:45 - took over 30 mins. going west to get over the bridge due to construction. Great coordination by the State since the Skyway is closed over the weekend. NJ & You - perfect together!

I rode my bike from the Heights down to Lincoln Park around 10:30 today, and things really did seem to be messed up... I was wondering what was going on. Now I know: CARMAGEDDON!

Turnpike Extension near Exit 14A seeing heavy westbound traffic

By Jonathan Lin | The Jersey Journal
on April 25, 2015 at 3:12 PM, updated April 25, 2015 at 3:21 PM

BAYONNE -- The New Jersey Turnpike Extension near Exit 14A is seeing heavy westbound traffic due to construction in the area, according to a Journal staff member driving near the roadway.

At around 11:10 a.m. today, the westbound Extension bridge had been backed up for at least two hours, staff reported.

According to 511nj.org, "necessary deck work" is taking place on "Westbound NJ Turnpike Hudson County Extension Interchanges 14A-14 (Bayonne-Newark)" through the weekend until 5 a.m. on Monday.

Jersey City is at a standstill. Rt 440 from Bayonne going towards Journal Square is bumper to bumper cars are not moving. Forget about trying to get in the Hudson Mall area the roundabout is blocked by gridlock.

Westside Avenue is at a standstill from Country Village going towards Journal Square same bumper to bumper mess. A solid line of cars from CV to JSq amazing and a solid line of traffic going down Communipaw from the Blvd to rt 440.

They are doing work on the TP Extension Bridge going West, it is one lane and also bumper to bumper. I guess people are cutting through JC to avoid the TP Extension.

Stay home or walk.

PS ? NOT ONE COP IN SIGHT directing traffic.
