?Beef? between two rival motorcycle gangs leads to bar stabbing, police say

December 15, 2014 - Crime, Jersey City - Written by Kate Mosso

The motorcycle gangs the ?Whatever Riders? and the ?Wicked Riders? just can?t put what one bar owner calls ?beef from a party two weeks ago? to rest, according to a police report from an incident yesterday where a man was stabbed at a Jersey City bar.

According to the police report, a 27-year-old was stabbed around 2:40 am Sunday morning outside the Tres Cuartos bar on Summit Avenue in Jersey City by an ?unknown actor?, who then disappeared down Charles Street towards Central Avenue.

Two female friends of the victim say the assailant punched him in the nose before stabbing him in the right arm, hitting an artery and causing major blood-loss as he stumbled across the street and collapsed in front of the bar, police said.

Eye witnesses stated they were unsure what type of weapon was used to stab the victim, officials said.
Paramedics rushed him to the operating room of the Jersey City Medical Center and witnesses described the attacker as drunk, about 5?5 and heavy-set with dark skin, authorities said.

According to police, the owner of Tres Cuartos claims ?the fight is from an after-hours party that happened in Newark, NJ two weeks ago? between the two rival motorcycle gangs.
Officials also noted that there was a heavy amount of blood on the sidewalk when they arrived at the crime scene.
The incident marks the second motorcycle gang-related stabbing in Jersey City in the past week.

On December 7th, members of the ?Whatever Riders? were reportedly involved in a street fight that lead to a stabbing at Mango?s Lounge on Linden Avenue. That same night, ?Whatever Rider? member Victor Navarro, 35, was arrested for illegal possession of a handgun (h/t The Jersey Journal).

Motorcycle gang member caught with illegal gun after Jersey City brawl

Resized Image

Patrick McGovern | The Jersey Journal
on December 10, 2014

An alleged motorcycle gang member suspected to be involved in a Jersey City street fight that resulted in a stabbing was arrested after police caught him with a loaded handgun, authorities say.

Victor Navarro, 35, of Jersey City, is charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons not to have weapons, receiving stolen property, and violation of the regulatory provisions relating to firearms.

On Sunday, Jersey City police officers working the street crimes unit received information that a member of the What Ever Riders Motorcycle Gang was said to be involved in a street fight that resulted in a stabbing at Mango's Lounge on Linden Avenue, according to a police report.

Navarro was reportedly in Union City on his way back to Jersey City in his 2004 Honda Odyssey following the street fight and was said to be carrying a handgun in the car for protection, police say.

Officers received information that Navarro was going to a meeting with "fellow members of his motorcycle gang" on Summit Avenue, police said. They found his minivan in the parking lot of Bowl Rite Bowling Lanes near Eighth Street in Union City, where there were several Union City police cars already on the scene responding to false reports of a fight, the report states.

Jersey City police officers set up surveillance on the Odyssey, and after 30 minutes saw Navarro talking on his cellphone. He appeared agitated as he talked about a fight he was involved in, police say.

Thirty minutes later Navarro drove away, going east on Eighth Street, police say. As he crossed Kennedy Boulevard and traveled west on Secaucus Road, officers pulled him over, the report states.

Navarro gave officers an ID card and told them he didn't have a license, police say. Navarro was asked to step out of the vehicle, and when he did officers saw a black handgun lying in the rear hatch of the van, the report says.

Officers arrested Navarro and removed a Kimber Tactical Handgun, which had seven rounds of ammunition in the magazine clip, out of the vehicle, police said.

Navarro appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City on Monday via video link from the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny. Judge Margaret Marley set his bail at $100,000 cash or bond.

Navarro has 18 prior arrests in New Jersey, court officials said.

Man stabbed during motorcycle club squabble in Jersey City, cops say

By Mike D'Onofrio | The Jersey Journal
on December 15, 2014

A "beef" between motorcycle clubs led to a man being stabbed early yesterday morning at Summit Avenue and Charles Street in the Heights section of Jersey City, police said.

Police found the 27-year-old victim lying on his back in a pool of blood outside a local bar around 2:40 a.m..

The man, who was rushed by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, had been stabbed in his right arm, severing an artery, police said.

Two women who were with the victim said he had been confronted twice by a man who appeared to be drunk and who wanted to fight. At some point the man punched the victim in the nose, police said.

The women saw the victim stumble across the street and collapse in front of the bar, police said.

The bar owner told police that the incident stemmed from "a beef that happened at an after hours party" in Newark two weeks ago between the two motorcycle clubs.
