One of the greatest events on the JC calendar is coming up next weekend, Oct. 18 and 19! The Jersey City Art & Studio Tour (JCAST) is the culmination of the busy fall art season. Artists all over the city open their studios to the public, special shows are mounted at galleries, there are performance events and parties?it?s a citywide arts buffet!

The festivities actually begin with openings on the Friday night, Oct. 17. There will be venues all over the place. You can find out more about them HERE, and plot routes to walk or drive between them, or take the free art shuttle buses that will run around the city all weekend.

NEW THIS YEAR: Bike JC will be an official partner of JCAST. We?ll be running bike tours to selected venues on both Oct. 18 and 19, tentatively from 2 to 6 p.m. each day, starting and ending at big venues and/or PATH stations but also venturing to some less centrally located venues around the city.

Tours will be free, and led by some of the same Bike JC tour marshals who guide our annual Ward Tour (myself included). You can join for all or part of our routes. Flamboyant decoration of both bikes and riders will be encouraged!

Please note that, unlike our Ward Tour, these tours will ride on streets still open to car traffic. The pace will be slow, with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the art?doubtless including a few of our city's great outdoor murals, easily viewed from the saddle.
