Supporters of solar energy endorse Clean Power Plan

Supporters of renewable energy, including members of the solar business community, held a news conference this morning at Jersey City's School 28 on Hancock Avenue, expressing their endorsement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's proposed Clean Power Plan.

"We are in a critical moment in our fight against global warming," said David Beavers, solar campaign organizer for Environment New Jersey, which is a branch of Environment America, an environmental advocacy organization.

The Climate Action Plan, which is a plan to cut carbon pollution, was proposed June 2, and since then, the EPA has been accepting public comment and will continue to do so until Dec. 1.

The EPA will then review any criticism and support and work out a final policy plan, which is tentatively set to be completed by June.
