A very tall person could probably hit their head, you are right.

The way they have pruned it is horrible though, destroyed the whole spread of the tree, will take many years to return to its former beauty.

The city [I assume it was they] severely pruned the large cherry tree in front of my house in Hamilton Park today. The work if not slaughter, is at least butchery, none of the other trees on my block seem to have been touched, odd.

Being a cherry tree, it wasn't tall enough to interfere with any power lines; it wasn't obstructing the sidewalk, or otherwise problematic.

Any ideas why this would be done?

Do you know that you can't start threads from the home screen, you must click into a subforum by going to "message forums" and then choosing one?

I don't think these consolidations are automatic, but who knows? That would explain why they don't get renamed to something more generic when a thread is dumped in.

Try asking the Parks and Forestry division in the DPW they might know best. Actually there was a worker there that did that on the side.

Hi all, anyone would like to recommend a tree trimming company? I need to cut a laundry pole in my courtyard, it is about the same height as a utility pole though narrower at the top.

NYC does that, but they tend to get overheated power lines and fires on really hot summer days (and the occasional dog or pedestrian electrocuted by a metal grate or manhole cover). Also, above-ground power lines mean crews can fix them much more quickly when there's a problem. With the exception of Sandy, I've never had a power outage last more than a few hours here. No thanks, I'll stick with the ugly-but-practical power line setup we have now.

Is it PSEG? They came through VVP area in the spring and completely massacred the trees around the park. They cut all the limbs off the lower 3/4 of the tree immediately next to our apartment window on Barrow Street giving it the appearance of a fan shaped paint brush.
