If you want to have a baby trend jogging stroller then this one is perfect. It offers many great features and due to many great items, it is considered as the preferred selection of parents. It has got a tray which is capable of placing two cups in it. Moreover, it is really easier to move as it is the light weight stroller. Parents can easily carry it wherever they want as it is easy to connect with car seats. Baby Trend EZ Ride 5 Travel System Review

I think they have a choice of bells. I have heard three different bells.

So, the next natural and logical step then will be to install such extremely loud bells on every single car , truck or motorcycle , to protect the knuckleheads who don't wanna protect themselves, right ???

I did not move there yesterday, they just recently changed the bell sound to this monstrosity, how did the Light rail survive for over a decade without it but now it seems it's a necessity ?!

If the noise penetrates your dwelling then you unfortunately live (rent or bought) in one of those 'luxury' apartment complexes that have poor acoustic qualities, built on the cheap with poor soundproofing.
The only solution is to sound-proof your apartment with; double glazing solid core doors insulation in the walls and roof cavity heavy curtains, not cheap ass plastic or wooden blinds carpeting in lieu of wooden floorboards with no underlay soundproofing etc etc

If you move next to train tracks you should know that there will be loud trains, bells, and whistles.

Unfortunately our society is in the grip of ipads, iphones and general loud music being played in vehicles and pedestrians with headphones.
I've even blown the horn when pedestrians have jaywalked with headphones on and they have been oblivious to my presence and car. I've also lost count how many times I've waited at the lights and the car next to me would be as loud as 70's disco club. I can only assume the reason the light rails horn is so loud is to avoid accidents and make their presence known to these types of knuckleheads lost in their own audio world wondering the streets.

Call Jim Greller at the Hudson County Improvement Authority. He is an expert on all things Light Rail and a big reason why the Light Rail exists in Hudson County.
His number is: (201) 324-6222 Ext. 3228

I don't think the O.P. is arguing against a bell of any kind, just the new, louder, extremely unpleasant bell. the original 'ding-ding was actually kind of pleasant.

Is the decibel level of the bell higher than what's safe for normal hearing?

I have complained about this here in JCLIST in the past. If I recall correctly, I was given the usual "it's a city, deal with it" but I find it ridiculously disrespectful and rude. In my neighborhood, and on my particular street, the street cleaning happens at 7 AM, 4 times per week (each side is done twice per week). The sweepers are escorted by the JCPA carts honking that annoying noise at 7 AM. I submitted a complaint to the city and the honking stopped for a few weeks, then it started again. I get it, the JCPA is being "nice" to citizens by alerting them to a potential fine for not moving their vehicle. I say it "screw them!". If someone doesnt wake up on time to move their cars, that is their fault. No sense on waking up half the neighbors and disturbing the peace for everyone else.

You could start a local petition and submit it to councilwoman Candice's office. You can also report the issue to resident help center in City hall and make a complaint. They have a website to do so. You can become a member and raise the issue at HPHA meeting that takes place on 1st Thursday of each month at 7:30pm Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church on Grand St. http://www.paulushook.org/ I agree that bells are needed for the light rail train but they should be used if there is safety concern. There is no need to blow it at each intersection after midnight when most people are off the streets. This one is going to be a hard balancing act.

In the past, the Historic Paulus Hook Association has addressed issues with the Light Rail.

On a similar annoying sound topic ... what is UP with the Parking Authority go carts and that terrible honking buzzer at 8am? It has always bothered me; what exactly is the point of it? To alert people to move their cars? How many people does that save? It disturbs the crap out of everybody else, early in the morning, in close-knit residential neighborhoods with narrow streets.
It is just an awful, awful sound.

OK, this is a topic that I feel oddly strongly about, LOL. It sounds petty, but I'm the kind of person that tends to overly focus on the details.
The Light Rail, from its inception, up until about a year ago (maybe not even), had a very pleasant, almost nostalgic, "ring ding" bell sound for its warning signal. I actually enjoyed it, because I'm a nerd, as it sounded like a trolley car from the past. Within the past year, this sound has DRASTICALLY changed to a loud, extremely obnoxious, mechanical-sounding BUZZ BUZZ kind of sound. It's one of those sounds that just makes your ears cringe. I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done to bring back the old charming sound, but I wonder why NJtransit spent time and money to make the sound so much more unpleasant. Maybe so it gets people's attention better?

I'd like to have them go back to the old bell and horn sound instead of the weird new digital buzzer thing they have going on now.

You should care because having brain matter and body parts scraped out of the pavement in front of where you live is likely much less appetizing than dealing with an alarm bell that is meant to avoid such an occurrence.
Sounding the caution bell consistently takes the decision out of the hands of a train operator, thus providing some liability protection. someone else mentioned raising the rails off the roadway. Raising the railbed through the middle of a historic neighborhood is madness.. It would enable shelter for some (and not in a great way) reduce exposure to the sun, and.. suck for everyone who lives around it. also it would be comically expensive. Quote:

Now, if someone has his headphones on and doesn't care about trains passing around him, why would I and thousands of sleeping residents along the tracks have to suffer for this ??? The trains already HAVE a pretty loud horn that they can use when needed, and I'm not talking about that, but about the bells that keep on ringing and you can hear from few blocks away, what purpose does that serve ?? If this train is on some sort of a parade and needs to ring the LOUD bell constantly so that everyone turns a head then fine, but if it's just doing its regular run, sound the horn only when there is a danger, it's basic common sense to me...

I believe the residents said that bell went off every 20 minutes 24/7. This is the reason I suggested the lite rail should be raised but having it at street level will cost problems. But I was ignored.

It does sound annoying, but you really can't have a streetcar/tram without bells of some kind. We'd be dealing with a lot of injured pedestrians otherwise. How do you think the Brooklyn Dodgers got their name?

The bell became an issue in Lafayette and they asked the council then to silence them. It was very close to residents. The bells have been silence for a long time, they do have a gate/arm that comes down when the when the train appears and there has been no accidents in that part of JC. I believe L Harvey Smith was council president so it was quite some time ago.

I agree, the most annoying is the people at Exchange Place who sit on the platform with their legs dangling onto the tracks. What I don't understand is why Exchange Place have no benches? I think its the only station without seating. So they tend to ring the bell to get people to move their asses so the don't get hit.

The bells need to stay. As someone who rides the light rail all the time. I can't tell u how many people don't pay attention to an on coming train. This includes kids, to the old, young adults and yes....even people with baby strollers and young kids. (SMH) Just this week, i have seen 3(one guy escaped injury by 2 or 3 feet) near misses. Also, many people are glued to their cell phones or headphones or other devices.......that NJ Transit needs those loud horns. Oh the idiots my eyes behold. :(
